Today we’d like to introduce you to Hollie Lytle.
Hollie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Southern-born and bred, I grew up surrounded by sprawling farms and little coastal towns with weathered wood barns sleeping in fields. I’ve always believed that a picture tells a thousand words and feel blessed to tell others’ stories through my lens. If the stories remain untold, a part of our legacy does too. Outside of a few creative composure classes or workshops, I haven’t received any formal training in photography or business, so starting out, I had much to learn.
Lytlefoto was established in 2007 on a wing, a prayer, and lots of hard work. With each year, the scope of our studio’s work shifts and evolves, and then the real currency of our business, the client/photographer relationship, continues to thrive as we shoot from the heart. As a professional, I desire to give my clients a unique and laid-back, yet authentic experience, all while creating lasting works of art. In a society where so many art forms get lost in the commodities of modern life, photography can still be a timeless expression and personal craft.
I love a diversified portfolio and shoot everything from musicians to yoga influencers, weddings to maternity sessions. We want always to take a transparent and soul-centered approach while shooting outside-the-box. “Photo Boutique for the Bohemian Chic” became the Lytlefoto ‘brand’ years ago as my business partner-husband, and I fused the imagery to the person behind the lens. I hope to continue this passion and livelihood into old age.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Anytime you set out swimming into new waters, there are unforeseen challenges that arise. In the beginning, it was more technical than anything else… making mistakes, hiccups in lighting, or navigating an unfamiliar venue.
Setting stretch goals, like being published or opening a studio space, were both motivating when days got rocky and encouraging to set new goals once those were reached. When you’re a small business, it can often seem like the world, with its every-hustling flow of ideas, will sweep you away and self-doubt creeps in.
All of these things are normal in the journey, but I’m so grateful for colleagues who lift each other up and close friends who believe in the dream. Having a persistent and courageous spirit coupled with a passion for what I am doing will continue to be the push through a storm; the loving of a career, not the mud-trudging of work.

Lytlefoto’s styled of “bohemian chic” is a beautiful blend of freedom and unconventionality. We are passionate about catching love, life, and personality in all it’s true colors!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I continue to have proud moments from an accomplishment or accolade to a client-friendship that endures over the years. Real defining moments and glory come alive through the people whose lives I touch and whose lives touch mine.
If I had to select one that stands out, a magazine once interviewed my husband and I on marriage and career. To sit next to my love and reflect on the true grit of doing life together in hopes of encouraging others was such a highlight and blessing!
