Today we’d like to introduce you to Ian Elmore-Moore.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I remember drafting the first proposal for the Noble Truth Project Inc. during my senior year winter break at Morehouse College. I had partnered with a fellow student and friend of mine, Jalani Traxler. We both possessed a passion for service. We were not your stereotypical Morehouse students, we were not legacy, nor came from a high socio-economic background. We both came from humble beginnings, he from Minneapolis MN and I from Newark NJ. It all started when we began to volunteer at the Fulton County Juvenile Court’s The Learning Club (TLC). TLC was created in 2006 by a dedicated Deputy Chief Probation Officer, Samuel Washington as a weekly Saturday diversion program for adjudicated adolescences. We had spent the majority of the previous semester working and brainstorming on ways we could help. Jalani and I loved TLC however; we believed we could create a modern curriculum that would entice positive change.
In March 2013, we had joined forces with Tonneka Caddell, a current graduate student at Clark Atlanta University who helped our program get started. She organized our thoughts and build our orientation packet, calendar, and budget. We linked with my fraternity brother tax attorney, Van Aislee Smith who formulated our 501c3. We were officially registered as a non-profit organization and thus the work began. Samuel Washington gave us ten youth, all of which were identified as high-risk: gang members, drug dealers, and armed robbers. He asked us what was our plan, our innovative curriculum, we told him, “mindfulness”. He smiled and allowed us to run our first pilot program.
To date, we have serviced over 500 youth in the mentor-Atlanta area. Our curriculum has successfully produced college graduates, honorable fathers, and productive members of society. We introduced these young men to the NOBLE TRUTH! Our curriculum was rooted in science and spirituality. We told these young men the truth about themselves and what they could accomplish. We exposed them to the benefits of yoga and mindfulness. We taught them how the brain and subconscious mind operated. We showed them that their success lied within themselves.
We bolstered a 17% recidivism rate but continued to struggle to financially enhance the program. Tonneka had moved to advance her career as a Ph.D. student, Jalani had enrolled in divinity school, and I had begun teaching middle school social studies. We had a limited amount of time for organizational capacity. We had successes but also had lost youth by death and prison. Hurt by these events in 2018, I decided to take a break from the program and brainstorm around ways to make our diversion sustainable.
Several months later, I created the Noble Truth LLC, a coaching and consulting company. Modifying our diversion program curriculum has helped me provide assistance to a variety of people and corporations. I believe that if I can change a gang member to college graduate, I can certainly change teachers, corporate executives, hospitality professionals, athletes and anyone to obtain success in their field of industry and personal life. As a speaker, coach, consultant, and yoga instructor my goal is to provide my clients with the tools to think and grow. Our philosophy derives from meditation, research, and personal experience. It is my intended to not only inform but encourage individuals to look deeply within themselves, in hopes of curing such ills as trauma, poverty, fear, depression, and stress. We are spiritual beings, on a physical planet, with intellectual powers; many people know this, few understand, but rarely do people apply. The Noble Truth is a coaching and consulting company devoted to mindfulness and leadership development.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When operating a business, there is never an “easy road”. The willingness to learn through trial and error is a testament to one’s desire. No struggle I have endured is worth mentioning as they all have dissipated with persistence and organized planning. If you are an entrepreneur and are experiencing “struggles”, I encourage you to seek out the Noble Truth LLC to be a thought partner in your mastermind team.
Please tell us about Noble Truth Project.
The Noble Truth LLC is a coaching and consulting company specializing in mindfulness and leadership development. We work with individuals as well as educators, athletes, hospitality services, and corporate leaders maximize their potential. Through one on one coaching or corporate consultations, we provide mindfulness strategies that evoke effective change. We teach our clients the “ins and outs” of the human brain. These fundamental lessons allow our clients to positively program their subconscious mind. By removing such mindsets like doubt, worry, fear, and stress we teach our clients how their thoughts manifest into things. Through our extensive curriculums, we have helped many people and corporations achieve their personal and professional goals.
I am proud of the fact that we help people and corporations achieve success, it is truly an unmatched feeling. I am proud to introduce people and corporations to mindfulness. Many people do not meditate or visualize their future. They have not learned to use auto-suggestive techniques to positively change their habits. Being able to generate capital is an amazing feeling and it is even better to tithe it away. Being able to make a substantial donation to our diversion program for youth-at-risk is the highlight of our company. Creating an LLC with a 501(c)(3) arm is the beginning of true freedom for the people and corporations in which we serve.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Absolutely nothing! The journey of business is similar to the journey of life. Everything happens for a reason. I am blessed to be able to assist others to achieve their dreams. Change can happen immediately as it is never too late to learn and grow. Previous experiences have encouraged the growth mindset we all need in order to achieve the futures we desire.
