Meet Inspiring Singer/Songwriter Qui Maylee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Qui Maylee.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Qui Maylee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in Montgomery, Alabama but was raised in a small town in called Shorter. My grandma’s house was historical almost. We didn’t have a restroom in the house. We bathe outside in a huge iron bowl and we used a bucket as a toilet. At the time, I did not think of it to be the worst situation because I hadn’t seen anything better just yet and I had everything I needed to be considered ok. But one day, while sitting on my grandmother’s porch, I remember humming a tune and then putting together a snippet to the tune I was humming. This became a habit for me daily until I finished the entire song. At only 10 years old, I had officially written my first song. With not much to do on the orange dirt roads, singing and writing was my new hobby. I knew this was something that I would do for the rest of my life.

I never stopped writing I progressed and got better over time. Anything with repetition it’s possible. I study the greats, but I don’t compare myself to anyone. So, I make it my business to create a different sound with every genre of music I wrote. I am not limited to any genre of music.

Today, I am expanding as an artist, releasing music, and working with other artists of all genres to get my music heard. All the support that I get in this critical time in my career means so much to me. I wake up blessed and ready for the next opportunity.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road has not always been smooth at all. When you are young, you are growing and changing at a constant rate and so is your mind. While in high school and in college, I worked several jobs and got my certification in so many different fields. But I was never truly happy. When I was 20, I fell into a deep depression. I was sad and mad at myself because I felt like somewhere along the way, I lost focus. For three months, I struggle with this sickness. One day, I decided to get on YouTube to listen to my daily playlist but I accidentally clicked my instrumental playlist. Immediately, after the beat started, I started humming and writing lyrics in my head. I was optimistic even though my depression, so I knew all I needed to do is tap back into “Qui Maylee” way. This became my daily routine again. I was blessed to return to my passion and this time, I KNEW I was never letting it go again.

Please tell us more about your music, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am an upcoming songwriter and artist here in Atlanta Ga. I am not limited to anything music-related. I am known for my unique and custom flows online and during performances. I am proud of my creativity as a writer and artist. Diversity is the keyword to describe my music and that’s what set me apart from others.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next 10 years I see the evolution of music in the industry unfolding. Music has different eras but just like anything it come back around just in a different way. Being a versatile writer, I will be able to adjust during all eras. Different artist and trends will come alone but staying flexible as a writer/artist and staying true to yourself is the key.
