Today we’d like to introduce you to Ira Carmichael.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, I always been into Art and love art from artists such as Jean Michel Basquiat to Mark Rothko to Great Photographers like Gordon Parks… I knew I wasn’t going to be an artist in the aspect as a painter but photography was something I felt I could thrive in plus I thought I took good pictures with my phone… lol. So my wife bought me a camera a Nikon D3400 and I let the camera sit for a couple of months without even using it. And when I started, I didn’t know what type of photography I wanted to shoot… I begin shooting street photography and then I did an event or two. Also tried my hand at shooting models. I quickly learned that wasn’t the type of photography that I loved. So me being an actor myself, I reached out to my actor friends and asked them to let me practice doing headshots… The rest is history.

Has it been a smooth road?
The struggles along the way really didn’t hit me because I always believed in my product and what services I was providing. The struggles or challenges came last year when I lost my dad, grandmother, and stepmother all in the same year. But I still had to push through and give service to my clients even when I didn’t feel up to it. Then the following year, I lost my biological mother. It was those losses that I struggled with more than anything that comes with running my business.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Well, I’m a headshot photographer and specialize in actor headshots… I guess what I’m most known for is being an actors photographer… As an actor myself I’m in the grind right along with my clients, I understand the need for quality headshots that won’t break the bank. That’s why my rates are what they are and I tend to run specials often… That’s what separates me from the rest….. I’m most proud when a clients reaches out to me and tells me that they got an agent from my headshots or their auditions have picked up since they’ve shot with me. Gives me a sense of purpose

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Our city is booming right now … Hollywood will always be Hollywood, But Everything is being shot here … It’s actors popping up left and right and then there’s the established ones here doing their thing so of course, Atlanta is a place for a headshot photography business is. I would say if you’re here start here if you’re living in North Carolina start there. Wherever you are, just start. If you love it just start and let your passion take you.
