Ishmael, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m Ishmael Ysbeck, a 21-year-old entrepreneur and motivator. On September 20, 2017, my company HerJewelsHair was born. Some may ask why hair? Growing up I was able to see my mom not only do her hair but she showed me the value it carries to a woman. I knew that I wanted to be apart of something bigger than me. With these strong feelings of entrepreneurship, I decided to drop out of college. To be honest, I couldn’t find anything that I wanted to be in school for and when I was going to school, I wasn’t happy. I felt like I was doing it to make my family happy but not me. I knew working for someone wasn’t what I wanted out of life. Months later, I decided to quit my job at Bloomingdale’s and pursue my business full time. At this time with no job, I needed extra money so I decided to do uber eats. I can’t lie I was scared when I quit my job because I was going from being comfortable with this weekly paycheck to a situation of uncertainty. But you will never become the person that you were truly destined to be until you decide to take a risk. I had to become uncomfortable in order for me to succeed in life. In 2019, I decided to move from Miami to ATL all on my own. This was by far the scariest thing I could ever do, because all I ever knew was how to live with my parents, but something deep inside of me wanted more. Plus, I felt like I was built for this life! I only had $100 in my pocket, a dream, and a car. I must say through it all I kept the faith, when I was ready to give up I kept the faith when people rejected me I kept the faith. Please don’t get caught up with how others make life as an entrepreneur look because it’s not easy. Also, don’t discount anyone because you never saw their journey you only saw the finished product.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing in life that’s worth keeping comes easy. Life will come with many challenges & struggles, what’s important is the attitude we have when they come. On this journey to success, I have gone broke trying to invest into my business, I’ve been depressed because of failed expectations, I’ve even lost hope on my dreams, but one thing for certain I have never and I will never give up. It is very important that you stay in your lane and do not allow those who show a facade on Instagram to make you feel like your doing everything wrong. Trust the process, stay faithful and choose to take things day by day to reduce stress.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I see us becoming a globally well-known company! We will have multiple storefronts that offer a variety of services & products.
