Meet Ivey Stovall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivey Stovall.

Hi Ivey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, I always knew Make-up was for me. When I got into High School, I knew I didn’t want to go to college so I started researching Makeup schools in the Atlanta and New York area. I knew from the first time that I traveled to New York City that I would one day live there. I’ve always dreamed of having my own business like my mom did. She was the role model of a “boss babe” she made her business from the ground up and was so passionate about what she did. That is what inspired me to start my own Make-up business. My mom who sadly passed away this year, was my inspiration for my whole brand. She encouraged and to make my dreams come true. She taught me to go after my dreams and to accomplish them. She believed in me like no one else did. Everything I do is for her!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For me, I would say being a Make-up artist is so much fun but it is also not easy. There are so many artists out there that you have make yourself stand out from others. You have to show kindness and show professionalism. Most importantly, you have to have fun and love what you do.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Make-up Artist. I specialize in Editorial, Bridal, Special Occassion and Fashion Make-up. I am most proud of the risks and overcoming some of my fears to make this business happen. What sets me apart from others is my kindness and attitude.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
A major risk I have taken is moving away from my small town at age 18 to the big city of New York City. I moved not knowing anyone. I then made friends that will be my friends for a lifetime.
