Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackson Coppins.
Hi Jackson, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started taking Acting/Filmmaking seriously during Covid, I had just graduated highschool and was suppose to go to NC A&T University to study Architectural Engineering, but once the pandemic hit I had a lot of time at home to think and realized I was going to take a bet on myself and pursue something I knew I was passionate about. So about a month before classes started I transferred to Georgia State University and since then I’ve been full steam ahead when it has come to my Acting/Filmmaking career.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, the only reason the road has gotten bumpy for me has been struggles with my own mental when it comes to my patience and expectations around where I want to be in my career. I really am blessed, things have lined up for me pretty nicely, since coming to GSU and even now after graduating( 2024) I can’t be anything but grateful. I just have to stay present, and realize that I will achieve my goals in due time, I just need to focus on the things I can control, my output, my training, and honing my skills and eventually the right people will take notice.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an Actor and Director out of Atlanta, GA, throughout my academic journey, i’ve explored multiple facets of the film industry, both behind and in front of the camera. But it has been my passion for performance that had led him to work on numerous student-led productions as well as now feature independent films in my professional career. I can say I’m most proud of my the experiences I’ve gained and the connections I’ve made while pursuing this passion of mine. I really do cherish the friends and family I’ve gained and the memories we’ve made, it has been enriching in mind, body and soul, it has made me a better person as well as a better actor. I really don’t think I’m all that special, I’m just a guy whose working hard for the things he loves, and whose to stubborn to quit, I can say I’m very persistent but it stems from knowing what I want for myself and this life of mine.
What are your plans for the future?
My ultimate goal is to open up a production company telling the stories and collaborating with people that look like me whose experiences, culture and upbringing resemble mine. But as of right now I just plan on continuing to do good work, making movies, and storytelling, I’m happiest when I’m working on a film/ TV show and preparing for a role, it gives me purpose.
