Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Brown.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I was in college, I discovered my passion for empowering and uplifting women and young girls through an organization called College Girls Rock, Inc. I was also able to embark on my own journey of self-discovery and empowerment during this time. I was a shy girl. The one unsure of who I was and then one day something changed in me and I became a new and better version of myself. I begin modeling with Models and Business which led me to Coordinating Photoshoots and Fashion events. With these things, I fell in love. It was not only the fashion of being in front of the camera but it’s the confidence that I developed and the self-awareness that allowed me to continue to step outside of myself and create opportunities for others to feel empowered and develop their own confidence. So today, I am a Brand Ambassador/model for Elva Mae Boutique, a brand that promotes body positivity and confidence for all women, an advocate for self-confidence and empowerment, as well as a coordinator for fashion shoots and events.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some people think that when you have found your self-confidence and take on the task of empowering and bringing women together, you have it all figured out as far as life and who you are. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. There are times, as a model that I do not feel pretty or confident, times that I feel unsure of myself/ the next steps in my career or times as a leader or advocate for women that I feel overwhelmed with the need or want to help others that I often forgot to take the time for myself. These have definitely been my biggest struggles.
Once you discover who you are as a person and become comfortable and confident in that person, you have to work harder to maintain and do constant self-inventory. I had to learn that it is ok to reevaluate and make changes as needed. There will always be outsiders wanting you to feel less than and I had to remember that no one can change the way I feel about myself. Also, that self-care is essential to my health, and that’s just taking the time out for myself and not overworking.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of. What sets you apart from the competition?
There are a lot of avenues that I have taken on. I am a fashion event and shoot coordinator, model, and brand ambassador. I also host and develop events such as “The Confidence BOOSTcamp” that was chartered to show women that despite their story, shape, size, skin color and anything else society may try to use against them, everyone is entitled to self-love, confidence, and self-worth. Those are the values that are reflected in all of the events and shoots I coordinate as well.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I would say that my proudest moments would be watching my visions and events not only come together, but make a difference and inspire others. The excite me i have for each of my events continues to feel like the very first one. By believing in myself and taking the chances that I have over the years, I have been told that I am empowering others along the way, and that’s really all I could hope for. I make it a point to set examples everywhere I go and in everything I do; whether it’s coordinating a show or photoshoot, modeling, self-confidence events, or bringing women together.

Awesome and uplifting! It’s refreshing to see and read positive literature about black girls lifting up other black girls, as opposed to tearing each other down!
