Meet Jaden Golding

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaden Golding.

Hi Jaden, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Boca Raton, Florida but was raised in Jamaica. Growing up my father was really into music and had his own set of speakers and a dj console that he used to rent out to different people. In 2016 he started renting it out to a place called Waves Beach and hired a dj I had known basically all my life, Dj Billy. Every weekend I would go there to help setup. Eventually, I got interested then Billy took it upon himself to teach me. I learned within a week and started djing there every weekend. That is where I fell in love with the art. I came to Atlanta in July of 2020 to study in college and at the time, I didn’t have a car so I worked and saved up for one so I could start networking in the club/party scene. The first event I went to in Atlanta was in May of 2021. I met a couple of people and eventually (about two months after I got my car) I got booked for the biggest Caribbean event in Atlanta, the Rumpunch Brunch. That first event was to determine if I was going to take off as a dj or fail. As I hoped it would, I took off and the feedback I got from people was amazing. From then, I started to get more and more bookings. Yea, it might be a little difficult navigating through school, work and the djing lifestyle but I push through because I knew that this was my calling the moment I touched that computer that day.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
As I mentioned before, I didn’t have a car so I couldn’t go anywhere so I put in hours and hours of work to get it. When I got my car however, I realized the way music is played here is very different than Jamaica so I had to adapt. Every event I went to and still go to I listen to the different songs played and that gives me ideas of what the people like and what kind of songs I should be looking for to be adding to my playlists.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a cross-platform, versatile dj that specializes in Dancehall, Reggae, Soca, Afrobeat, Pop, Trap, Hip Hop, Reggaeton, Rnb, Disco, Souls, Gospel and Rock. I am proud of and best known for my song selection, my scratching and how I mix it up between genres. I could be playing Hip Hop then the next minute I play Dancehall then Afro Beats then disco. Some people may say that’s not how you dj but as long as I get whatever crowd I play for to dance, I don’t care what people think. What sets me apart from others is my ability to build remixes and mixtapes. Back in Jamaica, I had a lot of free time so I would mess around with a DAW digital audio workstation. The knowledge I have of producing, I apply it to my craft and I would build my mixtapes and remixes on there and whenever I play them live people would go crazy. I have a wide collection of vocals from a variety of artists that I put on different beats.

What are your plans for the future?
Eventually, I would like to be able to get booked nationwide and eventually worldwide. I want to also expand my music library by adding as much genres as I possibly can such as K-pop and even country music. I know it sounds silly but when you have a love for something, you love all of it not just a part. I wanted to enter the redbull three style, the biggest dj competition in the world, but they had canceled it because of corona. I also want to get into producing and eventually start to record artists on my beats and even start my own record label.
