Today we’d like to introduce you to Jahna Hobgood.
After graduating college, Jahna worked in business and marketing for four years, where she learned all about the corporate world. However, she always knew she wanted to own her own business. Jahna wanted to be her own boss and make a real impact in the world. It was after she got married when she realized her calling was to help make women feel beautiful in their own skin. After years of doing all of her friend’s hair and make and known for her “jahna hair” she knew she had a real talent in the beauty industry.
In March 2018, Jahna put together a fake beach wedding shoot at Rosemary Beach to capture beautiful hair and makeup photos, to begin her portfolio. For the next few months, her friends made the best “brides” as Jahna experimented with different hair and makeup looks to be published and marketed on her social media accounts. It was clear this business was just falling into place as ‘word of mouth’ spread like wildfire, and weddings were being booked very quickly. Jahna Christa Hair and Makeup’s success was based on three fundamentals: talent, professionalism, and customer service. These key elements allowed her business to grow and became her full-time job in 6 months. She is now living everyday doing what she loves most and hoping to make a positive impact to young women. Her advice: Never stop chasing your dreams!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Jahna Christa Hair and Makeup is currently struggling to get through the COVID19 pandemic, along with the rest of the event industry. She is utilizing social media to continue to market her business and creating new ways to bring useful content to her target demographic. Time to pivot and create online videos for women to do hair and makeup looks on themselves at home!
Please tell us about Jahna Christa Hair and Makeup.
Jahna Christa Hair and Makeup is an on-location, traveling hair and makeup team. We do all the hair and makeup for brides and their bridal party at their wedding location. Jahna loves all things hair but specializes in updos and big beautiful ‘Jahna Hair’ with the help of special products and lots of teasing. She is most proud of building this business on her own, with hardly money, but a big dream. Her experience in the corporate world helped shape how she conducted business and realized customer relationships are key! Jahna Christa Hair and Makeup relies on superb customer service to set her apart from competing companies in Atlanta.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory as a child was playing outside and running around the neighborhood with all the kids, jumping from house to house!
