Meet Jalen Moffitt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalen Moffitt.

Jalen Moffitt

Hi Jalen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been acting for 12 years now and that journey started back in 2012 when I was in college. I went to the University of Mississippi in 2011 for college algebra at first until the first semester didn’t go as planned. That next semester, I had a theater elective, and I found inspiration in what was going on there then, I changed my major to theater in 2012 year. In 2015, I left school with no idea how to find acting gigs until one day, my home girl Sharrika Evans reached out to me for a stage play opportunity, and I jumped on it immediately. I was so excited and ready to work. That play took me to many cities around Mississippi and help connect with other directors and writers is Memphis, TN.

After doing many short films, features, and more plays in the heart of Memphis, things started to get slow because of the pandemic in 2020. I decided to move to Atlanta, GA in 2021. Because of God, I have the opportunity to be a part of two touring stage plays and 6 films here in GA, and many more that’s in the works. Me coming to ATL was a leap of faith. I moved here with only 1200 dollars to my name. I didn’t know how things were going to happen, but I just did what I knew how to do, and that was make connections with people, and that’s just what I did. I had the opportunity to be a part of the best Acting Studio in Atlanta which is LS Acting Studio. Louis Stancil is the owner and operator of that studio, and he gave me a home to hone my skills and also be around like-minded individuals, and he took me under his wing.

Now we here present day where I just had a movie premiere called Shadow Dance and a few more movies that’s about to come out on the hot movie platforms. I’m just so grateful for this journey that I’m on. I can’t lie like it’s not trying and difficult sometimes, but I just keep my head held high and continue to press through. Keeping God first and praying my way through.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t been smooth. That’s because life still is happening. Things you can’t control or somewhat control but affect you. Such as the pandemic, transportation issues, housing issues, and income problems but throughout it all, there were friends and family that were there to help in that time of need, and I am just so appreciative for that.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an Actor. I specialize/ known for film and stage plays. I will add a TV to that collection soon. I’m most proud of the short films and feature films that are about to come out this year and at the beginning of 2024. My work ethic and set etiquette sets me apart. Whenever I’m on set or on the day of the shows, I be completely locked in.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned during this journey is to never give up, see it through. That breakthrough could be in the next door you open or help you get a step closer to where you’re trying to go but you would never know if you give up and stop opening doors.
