Thanks for sharing your story with us Jamarcia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was struggling with exactly what I wanted to do in life. In between jobs and going to school for physical therapist assistance. While being in school, being a mom of two and working, I started getting anxiety daily. Very physical and mental anxiety. Struggling with that and trying to find a while to deal with it. I seek a therapist because I figured it was so much on my mind that I may just need to talk with someone. My therapist suggests I go and start getting a massage and meditate more. I got a massage and felt so relaxed and relieved. The more massages I got, I realized that it was very beneficial to one’s life. I realized that is the type of relief I wanted to be able to share with others. Especially meeting people who are dealing with the same thing I’ve been mentally dealing with. I decided to leave school for physical therapist assistant and enroll into a massage therapist school. And I gave it my all in school and met this wonderful other student who we both had a great bond and passion for massaging. We realized we wanted to have our own company in massage! And we started planning in November 2018 and built everything from there.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely wasn’t this easy smooth road. School had its struggle! Learning anatomy and kinesiology was not easy for me. And the main goal was getting out of school on time! I still was a mom, having to take my kids to and from school, work, and go to school. Trying to make up hours so there was days I stayed at school from 10-10! After graduating from school, I rushed to get my license and failed my test on my first try! Luckily I still was marketing my business and getting all the paperwork and everything together. Trying to start up a business and still work towards getting my own licensing and everything together was a lot. Especially when I didn’t have any income coming in. I stopped working because I wanted to step out on faith for my business. I’ve had weeks where I won’t have not one client but then there will be weeks where I have six plus clients. Not knowing what type of week or month you will have gets very frustrating but knowing you are in control of your own schedule and knowing you can get out here and make what you need of marketing yourself right helps me continue to build.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Helpful Hands Mobile Massage story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a massage therapist. I am only mobile at the moment so I come out to people homes, business, or hotels. Whatever is there level of comfort to receive a massage. I offer prenatal massages, Swedish massage, deep tissue, sports massage, body wraps and scrubs and reflexology. My specialty is Swedish massage and prenatal. My company as a whole is known for our couples massages. We offer a date night package, where we will come out and set up your home with rose petals, champagne, strawberry and whip cream and music of your selection. We also have add on to our services such as: foot scrubs, stretches, aromatherapy and hot towels. As well as we offer chair massages for spa parties, office parties and different events. I am proud of the growth my company have shown within just a year of being in business.

Luck played no part in my process. Hard work and consistency was the only luck I had on my side.
