Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Campbell.
Hi Jamie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The seeds to my career as a Health and Wellness Coach were planted in the year 2000. Both of my parents were fortunate enough to retire early, only to be taken prematurely from avoidable illnesses. Prior to their deaths, I was unaware of the overwhelming number of Americans who die every year from preventable diseases.
These experiences ignited a fire within me, propelling me to delve into the realm of self-care and well-being. I have discovered that the presence of self-care and lifestyle routines provides the foundation for health and wellness. Having a healthy body includes proper nutrition, while wellness is inclusive of your whole self. I enjoy creating a trusting partnership in a non-judgmental space to empower others to reach their fullest potential.
Having finished my education at Emory University, I became a Health & Wellness Coach. Currently, I serve as a Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach with a dedicated purpose to assist individuals, particularly those aged 55 and above, in reaching their utmost potential for a fulfilling life and maximizing the healthy years in retirement.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wouldn’t say it has been a smooth road. It has been a road with lots of twists and turns along the way. I had to take a leap of faith to follow what I believe is my purpose in the “second half” of my career. As a mother and wife, the gravity of such a choice becomes evident when considering its impact not only on my life but on the lives of those dearest to me. With a Studio Arts degree from Berry College already under my belt, the decision to venture into the realm of Health and Wellness marked a significant departure from my previous training and professional experience. Despite possessing years of personal life experience within the realm of health and wellness, I recognized the necessity of formal education to substantiate this transition. The passion was there, but the academic foundation was essential. My journey may not have been a straight path, but looking back, all major life events have led me to a place where I can now align my professional endeavors with my deepest passions.
We’ve been impressed with Crescent Wellness Lifestyle, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I coach individuals that are nearing or in retirement. This stage of life is a time to focus on self-care and to prioritize health and wellness, and I am committed to helping my clients navigate this transition with confidence and ease. Through education, motivation, and goal setting, I aim to inspire people to make positive lifestyle changes that will enhance overall well-being and enable them to enjoy a fulfilling and active retirement. I also make it convenient by offering online coaching sessions that take place in the comfort of your own home.
Retirement is a major life transition that can bring about a range of physical, emotional, and social changes. As a health and wellness life coach, I provide the support needed to navigate these changes and maintain optimal health and well-being throughout the retirement years.
Whether you are on the verge of retirement, newly retired, or you have been retired for some time and are struggling with health issues or lack of motivation, I can help. I work with clients to develop a personalized plan that takes into consideration their unique needs, goals, and preferences and provides them with the tools and resources needed to achieve desired outcomes.
Here are some of the ways I help with health and wellness coaching:
– Weight management
– Establishing routine physical activity that is safe, effective, and enjoyable.
– Managing chronic health conditions and preventing future health issues through lifestyle changes and self-care practices.
– Developing healthy eating habits that support your overall health and well-being.
– Improving sleep quality and quantity to support optimal health and well-being.
– Building social connections and maintaining a sense of purpose and meaning.
– Managing stress and anxiety through relaxation techniques and mindfulness practices.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I am a morning person, but developed these phenomena later in life, in my early 40s to be exact. I call it a phenomena because I have been a night owl most of my life, and staying up late was my “me time”. Now, I still have this time, but instead of staying up in the wee hours of the night, I wake up early every morning around 5am. I personally find this shocking because if you had told me I would become an early riser ten years ago, there is not a single cell in my body that would have believed that to be true.
Now that I have been waking early every morning (including weekends) for many years, I can’t imagine starting my day any other way. There’s an undeniable sense of luxury in waking before dawn, stillness enveloping everything. In those moments, I meditate, practice yoga, read, or journal while the world stirs to life around me. There’s a distinct mental clarity during this tranquil time before the hustle and bustle of the day commences. It’s a slice of morning when my mind is untamed, and unburdened by the day’s demands.
