Meet Jamie Ellis & Will Muster of Ellster Print in Northwest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Ellis & Will Muster.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
T-shirts were not the first thing we thought about doing. They weren’t even the second or third. We’d always tossed around business ideas, some practical, some ludicrous, but were never able to really get anything to launch. What we did know was that we wanted to do something that was creative, expressive, and could reach large numbers of people. Screen printing actually came about as a means of producing a small part of another business venture we were chasing, but once we realized that we would have to learn the process, and then realized the potential that screen printing offered, we immediately knew this was what we wanted to do.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Neither of us had ever even seen a screen printing press before. Sure, we watched hours of videos to familiarize ourselves with the process, but having no prior experience meant we had to learn a lot on the fly. With every new job came new challenges, we had to figure out how to navigate. There was no support structure for us to fall back on. Overcoming these obstacles has brought us to a place where we can identify potential issues and mitigate their effects to bring the best possible print quality to the final product. Now, we’re able to focus more on learning new techniques, finding ways to expand our business, and exceeding our customers’ expectations.

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Ellster Print Co. story. Tell us more about the business.
At Ellster Print Co., we operate by one simple principle; the principle that good enough is not good enough. This means we will strive for excellence in every aspect of what we do, and will not settle for just getting by. We take this attitude into our work, producing the best possible prints we can, and always looking for ways to improve our process, our product, and our customers’ experience with us. We hope that this mentality is something that permeates our business and inspires others to do their very best.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
We don’t attribute our rising success to luck or fortune. We work tirelessly, chase business, and improve our process, all while maintaining families and social lives. We’ve forged relationships with other businesses that are mutually beneficial, and developed a rapport with our client base that ensures repeat business.
