Meet Jamie Snow of Red Hot Yoga & Massage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Snow.

Jamie Snow, owner of Red Hot Yoga & Massage, was introduced to yoga while attending massage therapy school in 2003.  Upon graduating from Red Mountain Institute for the Healing Arts in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2004, he opened a small massage therapy business with friends.  This was Jamie’s first venture into entrepreneurship.  Massage Therapy took him from Birmingham to Augusta, GA to open the first Massage Therapy program in Georgia for his then employer, Education Corporation of America.  Later, Jamie moved to Atlanta as he worked for a national education publishing company.  It is here that Jamie fell in love with hot yoga and discovered Red Hot Yoga® (RHY).  He completed his 200-hour Teacher Training program in 2014 and began to teach part-time for RHY.  After a corporate layoff, Jamie began to teach more yoga classes as he searched for a full-time corporate job.  After eight months of interviews and hundreds of job applications, Jamie decided going back into a traditional corporate environment was not the correct decision.  He started to pursue his passion for yoga and massage by deciding to open a yoga and massage studio.

Jamie is now a Registered Yoga Teacher and studio owner residing in Midtown Atlanta.  His ability to find balance between a physical fitness regimen and serenity fueled his inspiration to teach other people the art of yoga. Jamie’s personal journey led him to complete his 200-hour yoga teacher certification through Red Hot Yoga® in 2014 under Bethany Vaughn and become a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) through Yoga Alliance®.  He continued his quest to complete the 500-hour yoga teacher certification, also with Bethany, completing the training in 2017.  The Yoga Alliance® acknowledges this 500-hour level of education as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 500).

Jamie enjoys assisting yogis with finding inner peace and tranquility through physical movement of the body. Jamie feels the best part about teaching yoga is the joy of meeting his students exactly where they are in their personal journeys.

Jamie’s yoga philosophy is, “While on the mat, there is no pressure, ego, or judgment. Yoga is a series of poses and shapes; allow your body to be free and receptive to experiencing the mind-body connection that is within all of us. At that point, you will begin to enjoy the physical and mental benefits of yoga both on and off the mat!”

Jamie is also a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in Georgia and Alabama. In addition to the individual state licensures, for more than a decade, he has been nationally and board certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodyworkers (NCBTMB). Jamie holds an Associate of Science Degree from Gadsden State Community College in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Jacksonville State University, which is also in Business Administration. His Master of Business Administration Degree is from Virginia College.  Now in 2017, Jamie is the first person to open an affiliate studio under the Red Hot Yoga® brand.  Red Hot Yoga & Massage is located in Midtown at 1590 Piedmont Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30324.

Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The most difficult part of the journey for Jamie was making the decision to follow his heart and passion into the current direction of his life.  Once he made the decision to become a yoga studio owner, he says, “The path was much easier to follow.” Jamie goes on to say; “Trusting the Universe and myself was key in this entire process.  I encourage everyone to follow their passion to pursue their dreams no matter how big or small the dreams may seem.  Every journey begins with a single step.”

Tell us about your business/company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc.
Red Hot Yoga & Massage is a hot yoga studio.  Red Hot Yoga® (RHY) is a locally owned brand of yoga studios in Atlanta known for always being committed to making yoga possible for everyone, and Red Hot Yoga & Massage shares in this belief too.  A vital part of making yoga possible for everyone is keeping the prices as low as possible. Another important part is making sure that purchased classes do not expire.  We like to say, “you buy ’em, you use ’em” and we mean it.

Red Hot Yoga & Massage has a vision of quality and affordability that has remained the same over the years.  The RHY brand has always been an expression of love for Hot Yoga and Power Yoga, coupled with the precise alignment of each pose, allowing that pose to accomplish its purpose, and classes artfully sequenced in a way that leaves you feeling balanced and complete.  Massage Therapy is a great compliment to a yoga practice, and it felt naturally organic to bring the two types of services, yoga and massage, together under one business model.  The start of the affiliate studio program allows us, for the first time, to bring the two services together.

Today, Red Hot Yoga & Massage focuses more than ever on the Power style of yoga.  We are dedicated to the quality of the yoga, Hot & Power styles, and the idea that we would like as many people as possible to be able to practice yoga and experience the art of human touch through massage therapy.  Red Hot Yoga & Massage offers several types of massage services including: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular, Sports, Hot Stones, & Thai massages.  Massages are available in 60, 90, & 120 minute appointment timeframes.  You can book massage services and yoga classes online at www.redhotyogaandmassage.com or through the MINDBODY app on your smartphone.

What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
I am most proud of the brand, Red Hot Yoga®, and the holistic nature of the business of, Red Hot Yoga & Massage.  Yoga is for everyone and the benefits are extraordinary. The feeling of coming to work every day knowing you are helping people to feel younger, healthier, and more centered is truly rewarding.  We live in a touch deprived society making massage therapy more important than ever.  Nothing can ever take the place of human connections and the touch received from another person.  Like yoga the benefits of massage therapy are vast from pain management, to stress relief and more body awareness.  Both yoga and massage therapy help us live more fulfilling and enriching lives.  Our bodies, minds, and spirits are integral parts to our human experience; we need to take care of them to the best of our ability.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
The proudest moment in my career has been finding my passion and following it.  It is so rewarding to know that you envision something and people appreciate your vision by participating in the business.  I love that I was able to take two of the things I feel most passionately about in life, yoga & massage, and bring them together under one business model to create a holistic experience for clients to be able to experience the benefits of both services.
