Meet Jamil Williams of Jamil Customs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamil Williams.

Hi Jamil, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Art has always been a passion of mines. My artistry began with me drawing in middle school but back then, I drew because I just loved to do it. I didn’t think I could use this talent in lucrative ways. As my talents grew and became noticeable, people would ask to me to do tattoos but that just wasn’t my thing. So I started doing drawings for money but it wasn’t very profitable so I stopped drawing for a while and started in the working 9 to 5s. After a few years went by, my artistic nature began to call me again. I grew a love for modeling and started to dabble into that a little as well as fashion. Staying in tune with fashion trends, I started noticing that a lot of people were starting to wear custom sneakers. A light bulb went off and I found the perfect way to blend my love for art and fashion. I had finally found my true passion. Now I can model my own art in a trendy way and help others create their own fashion statement.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been far from a smooth road. Sometimes I wanted to give up because either I wasn’t getting enough business or I just didn’t have the time to put my all into it, but thankfully me being around positive people to keep me motivated pushed me to keep doing what I do best. I started advertising my work on social media and networking with different people to get my work more noticed.
