Today we’d like to introduce you to JaQuan Harris and Treshaun Allen.
JaQuan and Treshaun, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My freshmen and sophomore year of high school, I was into YouTube and skit making. It started with comedy and I slowly progressed and got into cinematic film making. I started focusing on camera gear and studied film making seriously. My junior year of high school is when I thought about making music videos, so I spent that whole year studying that form of film making. I made my first music video December of 2019, and I’ve been working hard to get to where I am now. My business has grown a lot and I’m getting in contact with a lot of different artists and I plan to grow even more. I also do photography work and that side of my business is prospering well too. For the future, I plan to grow my business with the help of my assistant Treshaun Allen and make this a full-time job.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business from the bottom was for sure not easy. It took a lot of time and patients and I learned a lot of things on the way. Getting jobs in general was the hardest, I didn’t have a lot of work out so it was hard getting clients to work with me. With no work to show for how would people trust me on a project or to do any business for them. Once I got a few clients, the business flow picked up a little, but staying consistently booked was hard. I still struggle with that to this day. My assistant Treshaun has been a lot of help lately, He has helped with behind the scenes and set lighting.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
My business deals with any kind of camera work. I mainly do music videos and photography, but I am slowly branching into commercial work. I have made a couple of commercials and advertisement video, the ending results were very good so I plan to do more in the future. I’m a cameraman that is very versatile, I can create a lot of different things. If you come to me with an idea, I will get it done and make sure you love it!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think staying humble is very important because at any moment, I could create something or work with someone that will bring in a lot of views and recognition. I have to make sure that stuff doesn’t change me and keep working to be better.
