Thanks for sharing your story with us Jasmin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In college, my friends began calling me Slim due to my small yet elongated figure. As a new face in the modeling industry, I had to find away to differentiate myself from every other “Slim” in the book. Henceforth, I took on the pseudonym Slim Reshae via Instagram. I have since grown my audience on my social media platforms and take pride in being an ambitious creative. I love the woman I am becoming, and it is heart-warming to have my supporters join me during this journey called life. Slim Reshae is built on the idea of fostering positivity through creative outlets and social media platforms. The brand brings cognizance to valuable techniques that make beauty and lifestyle wants achievable.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has been that of a journey. I recorded my first video my freshman year of college on my Microsoft laptop webcam, edited in Windows movie maker and had no idea what I was doing, I struggled with being consistent because I felt that I didn’t have the equipment necessary to produce quality content. This all changed when I was interning in New York my senior year and New York just motivated me to hustle and grind. I began posting three times a week, recording on an iPhone and my old family camcorder. During this time, I gained my first 100 subscribers and by the end of the year I hit 1,000. Although it doesn’t seem like much, I thought it was a huge accomplishment. The following year we hit 10,000… then 30,000 and now we are well on our way to 75K and then 100K! The moral to my journey is never to give up because if its meant to be, it’ll happen. It may not happen overnight or on your timing but just trust in God’s promise to you that it’ll happen.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I refer to myself as an ambitious creative, others may categorize me as an influencer or content creator. All of these titles fit the description of Slim Reshae. I create beauty content from makeup tutorials to hair tutorials. One of the things that I am most proud of is when my supporters comment saying that I inspire them to live a positive life and be confident about themselves. Lastly, one of the main things that sets my brand apart is the genuine care I have for making sure my supporters strive to live life positively and I also try to create content that the viewers want to see – the questions that normally don’t get answered. For example, I posted a five product, beginner starter kit for those people just getting into makeup and showed them five drugstore products that are affordable and all the steps of how to do a full face.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes. Atlanta is a great hub for people who are interested in being content creators. There are multiple businesses and outlets available to you.
