Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Clark.
Hi Jasmine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have a passion for helping others. I believe my purpose in life is to listen to and help others. I am a Registered Nurse by profession and I absolutely love it! When I decided I wanted to become an entrepreneur, I knew that I wanted to help other women. I chose the hair extension industry because of my love of hair extensions. I’ve been wearing hair extensions for over 27 years. During this time, I’ve tried many different companies. I found it hard to find a company that would deliver both excellent customer service as well as a quality products. The entire process oftentimes left me frustrated and fearful as I never knew what I was going to get. I decided to take all the negative experiences and turn them into a positive for myself and others. During the development phase of my company, I was going through a rough time in my life. I felt alone and the one thing that helped me was listening to other Women’s stories. I also wanted to provide a platform where women could share their stories to encourage, uplift and inspire one another. Thus came Herstory Hair, A hair company that provides high-quality hair extensions, excellent customer service as well as a platform that’s a supportive environment where women aid each other with their growth by connection and encouragement by sharing their personal stories. We do this by zoom and Instagram live, it’s been a very rewarding experience.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. I think that with anything that you are passionate about there will be challenges that only make you stronger. A few of my challenges consisted of finding ethical manufacturers, shipping challenges, lack of financial resources and building a dependable team. I had many launch dates before I was actually really ready.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Herstory Hair specializes in raw Indian, raw Cambodian and Virgin hair extensions and wigs. I’ve sourced the most ethical manufacturers of these products. I’ve done this by actually wearing and testing the extensions myself first before putting the product out. If the hair is not top-notch, I don’t want it and neither does my customer. Like I said before, I am a Registered Nurse by profession and also an entrepreneur. I know firsthand that time and money is precious. I am very busy. Many of my customers are also busy entrepreneurs and professional women. They count on me and trust me to deliver a high-performing product that saves them time and money. When I get a review of how I helped them achieve the look that they wanted and that I delivered exactly what I promised, I am most happy. I am proud of the effort and commitment that went into making this dream a reality but more than anything, I’m proud of the connections with women I’ve made along the way. The women I’ve met are outstanding individuals who have provided immeasurable support and inspiration.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to plan. Plan for the best and plan for the worst. Without a plan you plan to fail.
