Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Raiford.
Jasmine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am 27 years old and I am a Freelance Fashion Model. I am originally from South Carolina but came to Atlanta to pursue a life long dream. Seven years ago, I started modeling for CIAA fashion show located in Charlotte, NC. During my seven years of experience, I displayed and presented various clothing and merchandises for LordnTaylor, Christian Couture, London Designer Rutu Bhonsle, SCUrbanFashionWeek, For The Stars Fashion House located in Los Angeles, California, Sparkle Boutique and The Aliesha Renee Show located in Brooklyn, NYC. I have also been featured on websites for a hairline at Simpleeslayyed.com, makeup website www.royaltiesbeauty.org, Photographer website www.raineyphotos.com and a for clothing website www.Splitpersonaliti.com and www.saedcompany.com. Now that I live in Atlanta, I will be on the new hit television show called “Models of the ATL.” I was also recently featured in Level63 Fashion Magazine June/July 2019 addition, located in Greenville, South Carolina. Overall, I got to where I am today because I kept placing myself into fashion shows, build my portfolio, and network so later in the future, I can be with a top modeling agency.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being a freelance fashion model is not easy, I can tell you that. I have been rejected from two modeling agencies because they want to see better photos so they can determine if I am a good fit for there agency. Another struggle I had was learning how to do runway for fashion shows. I was not always the best heel walker so over the years, I had to teach myself, along with some training on how to do runway.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a Freelance Fashion Model and I specialize in Print and Runway. I am known for changing quickly backstage between sets, Participated in fashion rehearsals, practicing and striking poses on the catwalk. Stood, turned and walked on the catwalk to present characteristics of garments for audiences at fashion shows. One thing I am most proud of as a model is moving all the way to Atlanta three months ago and I have already mastered so much great things. One thing that sets me apart from others is my determination to succeed and my spunky personality.
What were you like growing up?
As a child, I was very optimistic, happy, creative, and confident. My interests as a child were basketball, track, riding bikes, and singing with my grandpa on Sundays.
