Meet Jasmine Wilde of Hey Baby Ultrasound Boutique in Little 5 Points

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Wilde.

Jasmine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began my professional career as a singer/songwriter/background vocalist. A few years after graduating college, earning a BA in English with a concentration in Women and Gender Studies, I became pregnant with my son. I visited an elective ultrasound facility and loved the idea and concept. When I moved back home to Atlanta, pregnant with my daughter, I couldn’t find a similar elective ultrasound facility. I decided to draft a business plan for my ultrasound boutique, and here we are three years later going strong!

I am also a Spiritual Practitioner; I aid women along their spiritual journey within. I assist in everything from guided meditations, affirmation building, small women’s circles, and more. Women are my passion. Our experiences and stories are all unique, powerful, tragic, and transforming if we allow. Hey Baby is an ultrasound boutique, but my ultimate goal is to expand this elective ultrasound boutique into an empire of pregnancy education, wellness, womanhood, and support.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
What is a smooth road in entrepreneurship? Every day is a new problem – solution – evolution, depending on how one chooses to handle the challenges of life. As an African American woman, establishing a business, funding, legal aid, advertising, marketing, and mentorship can be challenging. Everyone will not see your vision. One has to embody their vison even if everyone else can’t see it. It’s not anyone else’s job to see or support your vision. It’s up to you to see and go after it relentlessly! I’ve made money, I’ve lost money. I’ve gained lifelong connections, and I’ve lost. Entrepreneurship isn’t a glamorous process. It is cool to say, “I own XYZ business”, but can you say that same sentence with as much confidence when things aren’t going as planned? When you’re a business owner, you have to accept the “good” and “needs improvement”.

One of the main struggles is exhaustion, fatigue, drive and determination when the plant you’ve planted doesn’t seem to be growing as fast as you’d like. But, the cool thing about growth is, in the darkness, in the soil, the roots are still growing … DEEP … even if you can’t see it.

One day, the sprout will appear. With more time the fruits appear. And even then, it will take time for the fruit to become ripe enough to eat. But that plant will continue to produce fruit for you, others, and generations after if tended to. Patience… it’s worth it.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Hey Baby is an Elective Ultrasound Boutique that offer 2D and 3D/4D ultrasounds to expecting families in between their routine doctor’s visits. We also offer additional services such as Early Gender DNA testing, where a mother can find out the sex of her baby at nine weeks. We also offer Heartbeat Jewelry, where we take the image of baby’s heartbeat and create jewelry from it. We offer Heartbeat Animals, where we take the sound of baby’s heartbeat and can place the sound in a stuffed animal for the family to squeeze and hear later. Lastly, we offer boutique items such as women’s kimonos, gender reveal cannons, gender reveal balloons, and newborn onesies.

I am most proud of our entire business. From the partnerships we’ve established, concepts we’ve developed, demographics of our clientele, and overall growth. We truly have amazing staff and clients.

What sets us apart is the feel, the love, and the energy that exudes from our space. As I stated before, being a Spiritual Practitioner and a mother, it’s important for women to have spaces to relax and breathe. Sometimes ultrasound session turns into peaceful moments of gratitude and healing conversations. It’s so much more than photos, it’s an experience.

What were you like growing up?
I was a creative to the core. I was into music, writing, and nature. Much like I am now, just more aware.
