Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Moore.
Jason, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
First, thank you Voyage ATL for giving myself this platform to tell my story. My name is Jason Moore, founder of Premier Global Sports. Originally born in Detroit, Mi, I transitioned to Atlanta, GA for work in 2010. I currently hold an MBA from Grand Canyon University in Corporate Management, as well as a Bachelor’s in Marketing. Professionally, my background is in the Supply Chain Management field coupled with several years of experience in project management & banking. Lastly, in my spare time (when I have it) I am on the Board of Directors with the Carl E. Sanders YMCA, the Atlanta Diversity & Inclusion Council with Cox Communications, a recent initiate/member of the Valence Inc Community (@valenceinc), and a member of the illustrious Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity Incorporated.
Being a former athlete, sports has always been a part of my DNA. I have spent the majority of my adolescent years playing organized sports, which afforded me the opportunity to play abroad professionally in Queensland, Australia shortly after graduating from college. During my time there, I realized I wanted to get more hands on with the business side of sports, to help athletes on and off the field/court, to not only increase their exposure through marketing and branding, but also give athletes experienced and trustworthy representation that doesn’t just place them in any situation. Fast forward to 2012, I was fortunate enough to meet a key representative from a performance shoe company (based in Germany) at a social event in Atlanta, Georgia, and that discussion, along with my passion for the business of sports, ultimately led me to form Premier Global Sports alongside my business partner Mike Crain in 2014.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a business is challenging in itself. With that said, one of the main challenges is being a small business and not being able to predict the future. Another challenge we face is leveraging the data and analytics in sports in this new era of media in order to make smart, informed business decisions for ourselves and our clients. The sports world is an ever-changing industry, so we’ve had to become adaptable in a short amount of time in order to maintain our competitiveness with more well-established firms. John Wooden said it best, “Success is not about the outcome rather it is about the journey”. It’s a marathon in this industry, and as long as we continue to be visionaries, think ahead and focus on our customers, the sky’s the limit.
Please tell us about Premier Global Sports. What should we know?
Today, Premier Global Sports is a sports marketing firm that focuses on marketing/branding opportunities to increase the market value and brand equity for NFL and NBA athletes. We work with our athletes in two ways. One, from a marketing standpoint, we identify off the court/field sponsorship and endorsement opportunities for our clients by partnering with brands such as K1x, Hooters, LLC, Defiance Fuel, and the YMCA, to name a few.
Additionally, we position our athletes to maximize their platform through their community efforts at a micro (local) and macro (national) level. We also understand how important it is to use that platform and give back to others. With that said, we execute on planning community outreach projects to organizing events for our clients to help strengthen and establish their brand and media presence.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
There are a few people that come to mind that have supported us along the way. One key supporter of the PGS family is a well-respected NBA agent, Wallace Prather. He has been and was very instrumental in our partnership with Hooters for our inaugural community event with Hooters. Leveraging his knowledge and expertise in this business has definitely set us up for success early! All proceeds go to support the Wallace Prather Jr, educational foundation, which aims to assist young, aspiring students in their quest to become great leaders of tomorrow.
Second is Damon Haley. Damon has been a huge mentor and advocator of mine since 2012. He is a Global Brand Marketing leader and strategist within the sports arena, and I actually give him credit for how PGS got started. Damon has worked with a number of campaigns to deliver a superior and best in class strategy for an array of brands. I call him the “The Marketing Guru.” Through his influence and leadership, he has taught me how to be an “out of the box” thinker in order to unlock my full potential, and for that, I will forever be grateful for his guidance thus far.
Next is Mike Applegate (@realestateapplegate), owner of Straight-A Realty based in Chicago, IL. Mike is a high-profile real estate agent, loan officer, investor and broker, whom I’ve known for 15 years. He has supported us and our brand since day one. He has a true passion to help others and it shows in my relationship with him. I have a lot of respect for Mike and draw a lot of inspiration from watching him perfect his craft daily. I’m truly grateful to have a supporter in Mike.
Last is Spencer Charles, III of SC3 Sports Management Group (@sc3sportsmgmt). Spencer is an up and coming NFL agent based in Atlanta that has seen early success within his industry. He has truly embraced and supported us through his ability to connect us with key individuals and Athletes. Spencer has truly embraced us since the beginning of our relationship, and we’re glad to have him as a business advocate. We’re looking forward to partnering very close in 2020.
