Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Shipp.
Jason, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Yung Playa Entertainment was founded in 2015. My first project was a local online radio station produced in the basement of my home. Radio station was named Yung Playa Radio.. that dream died out if being a radio DJ when I picked up my first cameras. Canon T5 rebel and JVC camcorder.
I self-taught myself how to video edit through hours of watching YouTube and playing around in premiere pro and After Effects practicing and learning tips and new techniques until I created my own style of video production… my first major video production was a music Tv show I created by the name of Birmingham Underground Videos. Which I produced for two seasons.. the show features local music artist from Birmingham AL. Interviews and freestyles and music videos. Remake of BETs Rap city in the basement. Footage can be seen on my YouTube channel “Yung Playa Entertainment” after building a name for myself around city with the TV Show. I took my camera out to the streets and started filming Youth Sporting Events. Football Basketball Soccer. Anything I could to make money. A few sports videos went viral in the youth sports community and YouTube business picked up across the country. In a matter of three months business grow from Youth Sports to high school college and semi-pro sports… since then I been traveling state to state to live broadcast different tournament and events… building my brand… my goal is to be a Filmmaker produce direct and film original short films documentaries and screenplays…
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Creating a means of income out of an idea was rough. Spent my last plenty of time. But the passion I have for media production and the support of my city carried me and wouldn’t allow me to give up.

Media production. Sports highlight tapes. Sports documentaries. Short films. Wedding videography photography. I’m most proud of being able to make a living on my own. Working for myself.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Playing sports.
