Today we’d like to introduce you to Javier Rivera.
Javier, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve had a love for photography since I was a young child, but it was not until I took a Graphic Design class during my senior year of high school at Stilwell School of the Arts that I began pursuing it as a hobby and eventually a part of my career. I developed a passion for photography and digital editing and filming. My family, teachers, and peers always told me that I had potential because I have a great eye in capturing the right image.
Currently, I am a senior at Clayton State University, majoring in Communication and Media Studies. My class courses and extracurricular activities serve as opportunities to showcase my talent with the camera. I mainly focus on freelance, fashion, and portrait photography. Photography is a creative outlet for me, and I use these opportunities to network with other creative minds and build up my business. Throughout the rest of 2019 and early 2020, I will be creating and developing more projects in my photography business.
Has it been a smooth road?
Before pursuing photography, I struggled with time management. Balancing my school and work-life with my booking shoots challenges me, but with the support of family and friends, I am able to stay consistent and motivated with my photography. When it comes to photography, every photoshoot is a new challenge when it comes to lighting, editing, and themes. These challenges and obstacles have allowed me to learn valuable skills while progressing my photography business.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in fashion, freelance-portraits, and event photography, but I also work on many other types of shoots. Within the next year, I think what sets me apart from is the angles and edits I put into my photography. Overall I like to capture every moment through the lens. I look forward to growing my clientele base and becoming a well-known name in the photography industry.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
As someone who is still in the beginning level of my craft, I think Atlanta is a great place to start a business and develop new connections.
