Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayvon Mccoy.
Hi Jayvon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started off as a kid who just wanted to be valuable to the world and to my family. However, that was going to take place. I didn’t know yet but I always had an urge to be in a creative space where I could affect people’s lives in a positive way. I got into clothing, graffiti, producing and many other forms of art that I enjoyed. So around 14-15, I started making music and writing lyrics and it came really easy to me so I kept going with it. One day though, it became more than a dream and a hobby when I believe my first fan ever came up to me, inspired the way I am by my favorite artist. At that point that I realized I could make a difference through my music, I went all in. Life is tough though so it took me all over the place before I’m just now at 22 figuring out exactly what I need to do to be successful in my creative space. Every day I work towards a better life for my family and to make an impact on the environment we live in. That is my artistry…
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve been through so many different obstacles in my life especially in the last five years to extreme measures but I’ve managed to make it through. I try not to focus on specifically what the struggle was in my case but on what I got out of it that can help someone else. Life is short and it is to be lived not saved the way you do money so be happy every day you wake up and be thankful for it. Though we also need to be patient and understand the struggle is a part of success otherwise we wouldn’t know the difference. No matter the obstacle in your way how dangerous or emotional it is as long your still breathing and you don’t give up on yourself you will be okay. What we see as a struggle could be a blessing in its own way; it’s merely perspective.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m known to be a musician/artist. Everyone who knows me that has truly heard my music tells me all the time how great I am as a creator in music. It makes me just want to go harder every time I hear it because when I was young, I never wanted to be the best musician, I just want to hear and create a platform to do something good with. I think that’s what makes me different than so many others because I create with a purpose, whether it’s music or something else. I’m proud of the fact that my whole family believes in me and understands that I’m trying to do something positive for our legacy. What I’m most proud of is really that I even have a family around me to support me through the highs and lows of life. As an artist, I believe your best work will always come from a place of emotion because it’s a substance that will resonate with listeners and make them into fans. I get that substance from my environment and those around me, not just from within myself.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe Purpose is key to us all for success because it gives you direction in this life that is already so confusing. Aside from that, I think just being a personable man or woman that does more good than bad in your life will take you far. You have to be determined and also patient in the same breath because drive with no patience can ruin you and patience with no drive can have you stagnant forever. Being successful is determined by yourself and no one else. My success is not the next man’s. You have to really want success and not be satisfied with anything less.
