Meet Jazzmyn Carter of Jazzy Paw

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazzmyn Carter.

Jazzmyn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a product of and current resident of Clayton County, Georgia. As I entered high school, I began rescuing animals and volunteering at my local veterinary office. After graduating high school, I obtained her Bachelor’s in Animal Science at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Veterinary Assistant Certification from Animal Behavior College.

Since then, I have continued to aid in rescuing, rehabilitating, caring for, and re-homing animals in need. I have 10+ years of experience where I have been employed as a Veterinary Assistant and Intake/Triage Supervisor in Chattanooga TN, and a Clinic Operations Manager at a spay/neuter clinic in Duluth, GA, and now founder of my own 501c3 Spay/Neuter & Wellness Clinic in Jonesboro, GA. My goal is to use the knowledge and experience I have gained throughout the years to give back, educate, and improve the community I grew up in.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. Lack of knowledge. Lack of guidance starting out. Was able to network and make relationships with other business owners to help show me the way. Some of the clinics I have worked for previously doubted me and suggested I stay and help grow their business.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Jazzy Paw, Inc. is a 501c3 organizations with mission to make a substantial decrease in the number of healthy, adoptable animals that are euthanized in shelters within our community through education, spay/neuter, promoting rescue/adoption, as well as provide low-cost, basic wellness services to pet owners in local and surrounding communities. We host monthly vaccine and wellness clinics on the first Saturday of every month. These clinics are open to the public and require no appointment. The additional days that we are open, we are surgically sterilizing 30 dogs and/or cat per day! I am most proud of our steady growth as a business and within our community. We’ve provided low cost, sometimes free, services to many families in need. We take pride in being able to help others help their animals.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned along my journey is to ask for help and not to do this on my own! There are many people in my life that want to see me succeed just as much as I do. I appreciate that.
