Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Brawand.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I moved to Atlanta from Cincinnati to work for Delta Air Lines. I was looking for a way to meet new people here in Atlanta. I joined kickball leagues but was tired of having to worry about pulling a muscle as well as always having to hide my drinks at the parks. Being from Cincy, cornhole was a big event up there and I kept up with playing it down here. BOOM – Why not start a cornhole league?! We started out at Atkins Park in the Highlands and quickly grew to many other bars, like Midway Pub, the Avalon, and many others spots! We now play at 10 locations with over 700 participants! Super easy to join a league, we provide the equipment, league managers, and you just show up to have fun. Fun for any age and all genders.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s gone pretty well. There have actually been more locations that have reached out and wanted us to start a league than we had manpower for, so we have had to be very selective about where we play.
We have also had some competition, but none are as large or as fun as ours. We are the largest because we have amazing relationships with the locations we play at as well as with our players.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with CornholeATL – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am the owner and founder. I help set up the registration, secure locations we will play at, and bring sponsors on board. You might say I do it all. I then have league managers that set it all up on the league nights.
I am most proud of that fact that I was able to start something from nothing. It was just an idea a little more than 5 years ago, and now we have over 700 people playing each season, for 7 weeks long. It’s also so great to see the awesome sponsors we have to love what we do and want to be part of it.
What sets us apart from other social sports organizations is how organized we are. Our league managers are amazing and always on top of everything. As they are the face of the organization, they do a great job socializing with everyone on league nights. They help make sure everything runs smoothly so that everyone has a blast!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We have plans to add more locations in the Atlanta area. As for past that? Who knows! Maybe we will expand outside of the city or even outside the state. We will start playing at The Battery Atlanta, right next to the new SunTrust Park, so that will be a fun new spot for us!
Pricing:
- The price to play is about $50 per person for a 7 week season. It includes us providing equipment, league managers, and specials at the bar/restaurant we play at. It also includes season ending prizes and league shirts for everyone!
