We’d like to introduce to you Jeff Obeng aka Cousinskeether.
Jeff, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
So back in 2016, I was trying to start a youtube page with a friend. I bought all the camera equipment ready to shoot our first video but when the day finally came to shoot, they didn’t show up. So I remember getting so mad to the point where I was like, “You know what? I’m going to just do a funny video on my own for instagram”. I finished the skit pretty quick but I was so hesitant to post the video. I finally clicked the “post” button and it published on instagram around December of 2016.
The reception I got from the video was good and the feeling of making people laugh/Happy for that moment pushed me to keep going. Haven’t looked back ever since.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
If anyone tells you their journey was a smooth road, they are lying! My journey was pretty rough. Being neglected by major artists publically when I helped their songs go viral or make billboard charts in my early years of starting this journey. Im not going to say any names of the artists but lets just say I haven’t danced to their songs ever since. Those struggles pushed me to keep going and to never give up. I wanted to prove a point that with God on my side, I’m going to make it without you regardless.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
My stage name is cousinskeether. I am an entertainer/actor, originally born in the Bronx but I’m from Ghana.
Im known for my African character “Mufasa” who dances out of the car to various types of music with my hypeman, C.T Moody.
What sets me apart from others are two things, my Mufusa character wears the same vibrant clothes in all of his skits and also most importantly , The positive energy/great vibes that the character gives off to anyone who watches my videos.
What makes me so proud of all of this is that I’m able to bring joy to people in their darkest moments. The fact that I’ve heard multiple times that “my videos the cure to depression” is nothing short of a blessing to me. All glory to God!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I don’t want to go into too much detail but I plan on going into some business ventures I’m interested in.
Im looking forward to just how me and my brand will evolve over the course of the years.
