Today we’d like to introduce you to Jelisa Varnado.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Pretty Polished Hair began as my passion project, it was one of those things that were on my “to do” bucket list because while I am not a cosmetologist I have had a passion for hair since working for a prominent beauty school in the Chicago area where I am originally from.
The market of hair extensions is so saturated, that is not a secret and this one of the things that kept me from pursuing this passion for so long. Until one day, I decided that it was time to give it a shot but in a different way with drop shipping, as this was another fear of mine – spending money on inventory that may or may not sell.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish there was such thing as a smooth road but unfortunately, it hasn’t been, but that’s alright because I have learned so much along the way. One of the biggest struggles was trying to figure out if my drop shipping model was even feasible for this product, then came the struggles finding a suitable vendor for my product that is US based. I spent a significant amount of money and time trying different hair products to ensure that they are of the highest quality.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Pretty Polished Hair – what should we know?
Pretty Polished Hair is about keeping our dollars within the United States and providing extensions for every type of woman. Hair extensions go way beyond just the traditional “bundles” we see every day. So, PPH aims to serve all women no matter what ethnicity they are or style that they prefer, there is something here for every woman. Inclusion is what sets us apart because we don’t market our product to one specific type of woman, we market to all women.
