Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Crosby.
Jennifer, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I graduated from The Art Institute of ATL in 1992 in Interior Design and began my own Company in 2000. Today, I have Crosby Design Group a full-service Interior Design firm. We have two locations for our different studios, our Commercial designers are out of our midtown location off of Piedmont Park and Residential designers work in our Roswell Design center. We focus on Multifamily and Builder services however we design for hospitality, student housing and Corporate projects as well. I also started a Furniture Procurement company in 2015 named Crosby Decor Solutions and recently just added a partnership to include all warehousing logistics in house to offer a full turn key service to our clients.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
During the down turn I lost everything and had to rebuild. I ended up renting a hotel room at The Highland Inn for almost 2 years to keep my head above water trying to be a part of any project out there. Everything just dried up and literally would take out trash if it meant opportunity to be a part of design. My son was a brand new baby and he would be in his carrier on the desk next to me in the room as I went through my address book weekly making contacts with relationships to try to stimulate business. Never give up, I guess is key.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Crosby Design Group story. Tell us more about the business.
Crosby Design Group (CDG) is a unique design firm in that we have designers that are both Residential & Commercial. Our Residential designers specialize designing neighborhood community street scapes & interior finishes for Developers inside | outside perimeter. We offer designer selection services out of our Roswell studio and handle all of our multifamily projects in our midtown location. Our Cosby Decor Solutions (CDS) company handles all FF&E merchandising, warehousing and installs across the country. My position with both companies is President & CEO, owner. We specialize in being a boutique size firm with repeat clients because we provide high level designs with personalized service. We are known for having designs that are always original to the project and you cannot tell it’s a CDG project because it is always one of a kind. I’m most proud of the talented family of designers we have working with us and the need to be top of their game at all times. What sets us apart could be our dedication to our charity of choice, Sunshine on a Ranney Day. We design room/ space makeovers for children with life challenges to give a special design to hopefully allow better quality & a happier life with well thought of interiors to cater to each child’s needs.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I believe good things happen to good people, so I work really hard to always follow my heart & not allow negative influences to ever lead me. I have had my share of both good & bad luck and the balance between the two is what has brought me to where I am today. God has given me a beautiful family that I adore and a business that I truly love. My only regret is I lost my Dad in 2002 but knowing what would make him proud keeps me striving for living my best life.
