Meet Jennifer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer.

Hi Jennifer, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Where can I begin? Growing up I was so inspired by everything in the beauty industry, I come from a braiders household, almost everybody around me knows something about hair. My mentor is my aunt she owns a hair salon, I used to watch her doing hair. One day she call me and say “Jenny come help me with my hair you be watching me do it all the time.” That was it she was my first client. After that I started helping her with clients I got so creative to the point where they will show pictures and ask if I can do the exact style and I will do it even better than the original. I was 10 years old using chair to stand on to do hair because I was really small. People be having hard time to believe when someone told them I did their hair. Then we come to USA (Atlanta) in 2015 I got exposed to all the new creative, beautiful styles I say to myself this is is what I want to do. So I went to Cosmetology School and got my license I’m now a master cosmetology license ready to expand my business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t say it has been smooth because I give up so many times. I really used to even do hair for free just to show the world how creative I’m, I cry myself to sleep sometimes when I’m not getting enough support. I work at a warehouse (Amazon) full time to use the money to invest in my business getting the equipment I need. I rebranded my business so many times, I’m currently in process of rebranding hopefully this is the last time. I’m still building my clientele at the moment but I’m taking a big step to learn from other big hairstylists in the city to learn new methods to be able to add more new styles to my service lists. I’m excited about this new journey.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m into everything that has to do with beauty such as hair, makeup, nails and fashion but most importantly I focus on hair that’s what grew up doing. I’m so proud of the person I’m becoming a great hairstylist I’m turning into, that has always been my dream. I’m very different from others because of my unique skills to create new techniques of my own I’m such a quick learner, very dedicated to what I do I put my mind on a goal I will get it done, very persistent everybody might have different opinion but I go with what I think is right always go with my guts.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My mentors really was the women in my life almost everybody around me really inspired me a lot, and I do have a few hairstylists I look up to as well. I had people that believed in me, my clients, friends, it might not be a lot of support but it meant a lot. I had people that referred me to others that then turned into supportive and loyal clients.
