Jennifer, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
With a degree in Chemistry, I used my learned skill blended with a love of baking to start the process of learning all about CAKE! I started baking a few cakes in my home for family and friends. A friend brought a cake to an amazing little bookstore that used to be on the Marietta Square and the owner approached her needing to know where the cake came from! That is how my story began!!! We began doing cakes for them and are now a leader in the cake industry! We have the best in the industry on our team and are so proud of all the hard work each of them contributes!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t always been smooth!!! Figuring out the best way to make an amazing looking cake that tasted just as amazing took a little trial and error!
Once we began to grow, logistics in Atlanta traffic was a challenge. Actually, this is a weekly challenge during the height of wedding season. It is really tough when venues only allow a small window for that delivery time.
Please tell us about Confection Perfection.
Confection Perfection Custom Cakes was founded over 17 years ago.
We specialize in doing very smooth (appears to be fondant) buttercream wedding cakes. Brides come from all over North GA and TN to get their cakes from us! Being able to have this look and the cake taste amazing is a truly something that sets us apart. We also have a full line of custom unique cakes. For the same reason, our clients love that they can get a really detailed custom look without having to use all fondant.
We also hear often how excellent our customer service is! We answer our phone!!! Our staff is the kindest and most patient! You have to be in this industry. You have to treat even the most trivial request with great attention. It may not seem important but it is important to that client!
One super exciting feature that we are adding is online custom cake ordering. This really doesn’t exist to the extent we are going to be doing it. You can order a super detailed custom cake with the click of a few buttons and have it ready in 48 hours!!!!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Honestly! I would have hired people a lot sooner. I did a lot on my own for many years and it was exhausting!! I am sure I probably lost clients from not being able to keep up with the demand.
