Meet Jeremy Green of Behind The Movement in East Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Green.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Faith – The Substance of things Hoped for but the evidence of things unseen. Faith brought me to Atlanta nine years ago. Seeking a career in the professional dance world brought me to the world-famous Dance 411 Studios. I immediately went in head first with training and interning to pay for classes. Interning leads me to working as the personal assistant to the owners Sindy and Ed Schneider.

They truly took me up under their wings and taught me the business. One day while at their house working, I overheard them having an argument about certain kids they weren’t able to personally financially support. At that time, I was heavily involved with teaching the kids at that time and knew I needed to help. I stepped in and told them I was going to put on a show to raise the money and I would call it “Behind The Movement”. I put on the first show five years ago and we ended upraising 11k and I knew at that moment that was my purpose. Here we are five years later and we have co-founded the 501c3 organization Mission 4 Movement, Behind The Movement The Intensive, Behind The Movement The Show and now currently building our curriculum for our homeschool program geared to children in the arts.

Five years later some of the kids that we were able to help are now professional dancers and future choreographers. They also just recently won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place at World OF Dance in Atlanta, GA. Building this platform has also afforded me major moves in my creative direction and choreography career. I just recently wrapped Coming 2 America 2 under the Creative Direction of Fatima Robinson, I have been blessed to choreographed and creative direct Netflix Insatiable, Da Baby, Rick Ross, Lil Duval, Jeremih, Grownish and more.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This has not been a smooth road, but it has been a road of ups, downs, questions, joy, perseverance, doubt, and most of all-purpose. When chasing this, I never would have thought I would be in this position at this magnitude. I just wanted to dance lol. God has a funny way of breaking you down to build you up and that build-up is the best feeling when you’re in tune with your purpose. I also don’t expect the road to really get any smoother. New levels new challenges but I have a better outlook on how to handle them.

Behind The Movement – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a Creative Director and Choreographer. #jgreenproduction I am Co-Creative Director of the Dance 411 Performance Company Team. I am the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Mission 4 Movement Inc. I am The Creative Director and Founder of Behind The Movement. I am an Instructor – I love to teach! I Teach one of the biggest night class on Tuesday night 7 pm in Atlanta, GA at Dance 411 Studios.

I’m proud of all of my positions. I create ART, I bring vision to life. Thats what fulfills me. I think what sets me apart is that I’m ME. I stand true to who I am creatively and embrace the organic process of making art.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment would be working under two of my idols recently. Fatima Robinson and Laurieann Gibson. Looking up to these two my entire career and then for them to trust me in a position of leadership said a lot for me. Makes me know that anything is possible.
