Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Price.
Jesse, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The idea for SlingShots started about three or four years ago with my cousin DeAndre Lemans. I was managing a Hilton Garden Inn and he was a full-time photographer. At that time, we were doing part-time photography work together. He was the photographer and I was managing the day to day operations. DeAndre expressed to me that he wanted to provide clients with affordable yet top of the line quality photos via a highly efficient photoshoot process.
He believed that clients should not have to pay for more time or photos than they actually need. I thought it was a great idea. I told him that it sounded like he wanted to “sling out photoshoots.” I started laughing but then thought to myself, what if we call it SlingShots. He loved the name, I worked on the branding and in late 2018, we started shooting. We started off at WeWork because we were trying to recreate some ideas we had in mind. Word spread quickly about the quality of our work and the affordable price, which told us that there was a need for what we were doing. As of today, about 80 percent of our clients are actors and entrepreneurs. We are primarily known for headshots but moving into 2021, we are excited to explore more avenues.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I believe with any level of success, there will always be bumpy roads. Most of the struggles were just my cousin and I trying to figure which path to take the company. We both had the same end goal in mind, but just different ideas on how to get there. Currently, we are working on different expansion avenues but still trying to iron out the details.
SlingShots Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
SlingShots Photography is one of the best photography resources in Atlanta. We specialize in many different avenues of photography like interior, lifestyle and portraits. However, we are best known for headshots. One of the things I am most proud of is that we are helping people in following their passions. We mostly have actors but we are doing headshots for resumes, professional social media profiles, entrepreneurs for their businesses and more. The main thing that sets us apart is that we focus on what more we can provide and give our clients and not how much can we get from them. We have clients themselves telling us that we should charge more like other photographers. Our answer is always the same. It’s not about money, but about giving everybody a chance to have high-quality photos.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel that great quality work, an amazing experience and continuing to improve is vital to our success.
