Meet Jessica Levin of Digital Consultant in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Levin.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jessica. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
Moved to Atlanta in 1996 fresh out of college and shortly after begin my career at Fletcher Martin Agency. I knew immediately that the ad world was for me seeing creative ideas come to life, building in a world of chaos, and working with extremely talented individuals.

Started my career with video production and worked for an amazing editor Mike Matassa selling editorial services and producing great spots for brands such as Georgia Lottery, HGTV, Papa John’s. Kept my eye on what the next area to move in agencies and knew it was digital. Working in digital production is not for the faint of heart many hours of working with developers around the world to meet insane deadlines and juggling many balls in the air.

My career really began to flourish in digital when I was at 22squared working with Southeast Toyota and leading one of the largest websites builds for the brand to merge inventory and marketing. Moving from production to leading digital project managers advanced my career to build stronger digital strategies. I thrive on being able to view projects holistically and to really advance teams.

Before I headed out on my own, I was leading social media strategists, content strategists, search engine managers, analysts. You can’t move digital forward without knowing the ins and outs of your current customers, competitors and digging into new opportunities. I work with agencies and companies today to guide their digital strategy.

Sometimes it is a short-term initiative to complete an overall audit to assess current state and when I am lucky it is really working with teams to integrate with directors to enhance website, email, social media performance.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Been through my share of acquisitions at agencies and budgets needing to be cut.

Unfortunately, it is to be expected when you are in the field of advertising. But there was a better role out of every situation. So many working moms think they can have it all. I once changed jobs with having a 6-month old and was thrown into complete chaos. The agency was just working to find their process as many do when it comes to integrating digital and was given an enormous amount of tough clients.

Many times the work/life balance does not exist in the agency world, and that is an extreme demand for working moms. Maybe it comes with age, but I have finally found a place where I have found a balance with my work and with my children, and it’s the happiest I have ever been.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Digital Consultant – what should we know?
Today I am a Digital Strategy Consultant. Agencies and individual companies reach out to me to assess current digital state and build new opportunities. My services include conducting technical audits, reviewing analytics, competitive analysis to ultimately build digital roadmaps. With over 20 years marketing and advertising experience teams are working with someone who has seen the good, bad and very ugly but has persevered. I pride myself on being able to listen extensively to clients and quickly assess a plan.

Strategy is a tough sell especially if teams are afraid of being able to bring someone up to speed fast enough to begin showing clients results. It’s where I start with the data and insights you can’t argue against performance. Comparisons to industry and competitors open the door and leads to additional projects. I believe strongly in going in with the intention of being a key team player. Life’s too short to be a jerk.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Treating everyone with respect. I value the opinion of those in the room from the CEO to the Assistant Coordinators. I always want to be known as the person who was extremely nice to work with. Doesn’t hurt that I have lots of energy which can often light up tough conversations!
