Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Williams.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jessica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been into hair and fashion since I was younger. I remember for the longest wanting to be a clothing designer when I grow up. When I was 15, I started doing hair from home. Braiding girls’ hair and small services just to get some money for myself. My mom struggled financially so I always wanted to make a way to get money on my own so I don’t stress her out! I did hair all throughout high school. When I got to college was when I really started getting into wigs and lashes! I was tired of doing hair and wanted to start my own thing. It was the end of my freshman year that I really started getting into entrepreneurship and thinking of doing my own business. The whole summer of 2019, I was doing hair to fund into my business! I had like 3-4 clients a week. I ended up raising a good amount to build my inventory to start. And that’s really where Lavish Girl Enterprises began. It’s been a year now since I’ve launched and the growth and support from people is crazy.
My brand was created to cater to young girls my age and older to feel beautiful and have access to quality products without spending a fortune. Nowadays, people are paying $300-1k just to get some good quality hair. Coming from a family that didn’t have it the easiest, I know how it is to struggle and not be able to get the expensive things. Everyone should be able to feel pretty and have nice things without having to give an arm and a leg. What’s crazy is I didn’t really start making real money or having a larger audience until March 2020. And that’s when COVID had taken over so I was so sure my business was going downhill but it was the complete opposite! God really blessed me with this business and is continuing to build it up. My business means everything to me. I’m always working on it 24/7 and trying to come up with new products and ideas for it to expand. Being a successful businesswoman is what I’m striving for. I don’t really plan on working for anybody. These regular 9-5 jobs aren’t for me at all. It pays the bills but long term wise, Lavish Girl Enterprises is my plan A. I want to be my own boss and be able to take care of myself and loved ones! My end goal is to open a physical store in Atlanta.
Has it been a smooth road?
The first couple of months of starting my business was super slow. I got discouraged a lot because I expected the success to come so fast. However, the more time and improvements I put into the business, the better my results were. One thing I struggle with right now is just trying to reach more people and to expand! Also, not having all my items on hand. When selling hair, it’s a bit harder to have that on hand versus small, cheaper items like lashes and lip gloss. Hair costs so much more. So I’m currently working on that to make my service more efficient and professional.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Lavish Girl Enterprises is an online store that sells hair, retail, and beauty products. They’re high-quality items for an affordable price. What sets my company apart from others is the integrity and passion of the brand. I don’t just do this for money. This is something I’m very passionate about and love to do. A lot of businesses lately are just getting over on people. They just want money and a fast way to success. They don’t care about morality, customer service, or their audience at all. I love my customers. I treat them like family. For the longest, I was barely making a profit because I was just interested in serving customers and making them happy. As long as they were wearing my products and satisfied, I was okay.
My face card and reputation when it comes to my business is so important to me. There’s nobody out there that can say they shopped with me and I didn’t make all ends meet for them or that I was rude. Lavish Girl Enterprises is for the people! I love my supporters and customers. That’s my biggest flex. Integrity. As the CEO, I’m mostly known for selling hair and just having my own business. It’s literally all I talk about and post about on my socials. People at my school would call me “Lavish Girl.” I always laugh, but it’s nice to know I’m known as a boss! They know my name and they know the brand. When you hear Jess, “Lavish Girl Enterprises” is always in the same conversation. I’m a go-getter, that’s what they know me for.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The metro Atlanta area and Atlanta itself is literally the perfect place for business. Atlanta is known for its boom of businesses and the high population. There will always be clients looking for my products! Beauty and cosmetics is what’s in right now. It’s running the business industry, especially in Atlanta. It’s also something that will always be a necessity for people. Girls always want to look good and get their hair done. I would definitely recommend coming to Atlanta for business purposes.
