Meet Jill Charisse of J.Charisse Image Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Charisse.

Jill, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My passion for fashion and style goes back to my younger years, working in retail. I’ve always had a natural flair for dressing well. I can remember, many occasions of receiving raving compliments on being well put together and questions on wardrobe building from friends and strangers. One of my all-time favorite shows was “What Not to Wear”(love Stacy & Clinton). In my time working in the legal world, I would observe & people watch on a daily basis. I daydreamed & conjured up ideas in my mind on how I could make people look their very best. I

watched attorneys that were in the public eye present an image that didn’t quite speak to being polished. I’ve always known that the entrepreneurial spirit lived in me. I stumbled upon the field of “image consulting” in my online search & clearly saw myself & my vision. I had an “a-ha” moment! Out of hunger and passion, J. Charisse Image Consulting was birthed. I “jumped” back in 2013 and moved to Atlanta to expand the company. After relocating to Atlanta, I nurtured my craft even more & received my Image Consulting Certification from the London Image Institute, under the instruction of Lynne Marks. J.Charisse Image Consulting has continued to grow and expand since.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say as an entrepreneur, the road is never totally smooth, but a definitely a road worth traveling. I have definitely endured some personal obstacles along the way. My first challenge (and one that I’m sure others can attest to), I would have to say, was dealing with fear (of the unknown, the how, etc). Along the way, I’ve learned that in business, fear will always be present but you have to put it in the passenger seat and not allow it to be the driving force. If nothing else, you have to do it afraid! My second challenge has been juggling a 9-5 job while managing and growing my enterprise.

Investing a good bit of my days and energy in a 9-5 can definitely take a toll on you and attempt to drain your momentum. I’ve found it difficult to turn the employee switch on and off and switch back into entrepreneur/CEO mode. My last challenge I would say would have to be in reinventing myself as a businesswoman & entrepreneur from working in a corporate arena. I’ve had the epiphany in my journey in business, that you must be open to evolve and embody the greatest version of yourself.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my favorite childhood memories was visiting my sister out of state and she would have the best gourmet jellybeans waiting for me. Since, I have grown to absolutely love gourmet jelly beans.
