Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Osorio.
Joe, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Like many passions, mine started at a young age when I saw my first Porsche. I was in shock about the design and of course the sound. This was the beginning of a long journey and love for the automotive industry back in my home country of Colombia.
I came to the US (age 16) and I wanted to keep pursuing my passion for the automotive industry and with Porsche in particular. Unfortunately, this had to be postponed when I got to Atlanta after moving from different cities on the east coast with my dad and brother. I started working fulltime between commercial painting and serving at a restaurant to save $2,000 to buy my first beat up “sports car” in an auction, a Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. When I drove it home, it overheated on the way and my dad wasn’t happy since this was going to be our only car back then. After school, I decided to join a small subcontracting company managing my own accounts and supervising over 30 employees. I still felt like I wasn’t happy unless I was around cars, so I joined a go-kart team here in Atlanta, which kept me busy for a while until they ended the program after only a month of me joying in. This fueled me to keep going and get more involved with cars in general, so I transitioned to a sales position at Ed Voyles, which allowed me to work with the most enthusiastic American car companies and brands like Jeep and SRT Dodge. In this role, I participated in radio, internet, and TV advertisements, and was a part of the biggest car show in America, Caffeine & Octane, which is also featured on NBC Sports.
Although I enjoyed working with American car brands and providing my customers with a world-class experience, a part of me always wanted to join the Porsche band. My dream finally came true when the opportunity presented itself and I joined the team at Porsche Atlanta Perimeter in 2018. I quickly started sharing my passion for the brand by representing Porsche at the race track with clients and friends. This included events at the Driving Club at Road Atlanta, which is a members only club for motorsport enthusiast who want to drive their street and/or race cars in one of the most legendary tracks in the world. I am just starting my journey with Porsche and I am looking forward to what the future will hold. All I have to say is I know there will always be a Porsche in my driveway, as it is now.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, not at all! Not having my mom around from a young age was very hard for my brother and I. There was a point where I had to sell nearly everything I had, so my brother could move in with me. I had to learn to fight any roadblocks that I encountered along the way in life, but I view this as a learning curve and always try to focus on and be bold in regards to my dreams.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Porsche Atlanta Perimeter story.
I help clients find their dream car and offer my expertise and share their passion for one of the best brands of the automotive industry – Porsche. We provide a hands-on experience and an opportunity to drive the best cars in the world. I get to live this every day when driving to work in my 718 Boxster GTS with a manual transmission and I love it. I take my client’s time and needs seriously to make sure they fully enjoy their Porsche experience and build a relationship with the brand for many years to come.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Every year is a new year. Now we are entering a new decade in which the industry is moving more towards electric cars. After driving Porsche’s fully electric Taycan, I can say that I’m very excited to see where our products go in the upcoming years. Our industry will always continue to change and it is important to keep our customers happy and engaged with the brand, and no other brand does this as well as we do.
