Meet Joey Kinsley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joey Kinsley.

Joey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have been singing and producing music under my alias Sir Yacht since 2015, and I am a die hard Cleveland sports fan that started making sports rants after the Browns went 0-16 on New Year’s Eve, 2017. I posted a video on Twitter that Sportscenter picked up, and decided to make content from there on Cleveland sports. Shortly after, I branched out into national sports, as well as pop culture. Currently, I have 16,000 followers on Twitter and 64,000 on TikTok. I have also been featured on CNN, FOX NFL Sunday Kickoff, MLB Network, ESPN, and multiple other outlets and a couple movie roles, including a double/stand-in role for Liam Neeson. I am working on playing a few shows in Atlanta and enjoy my time riding Birds in the city anytime I come in. The city is perfect for me in that there is a rich culture here, great musical taste, and a big film scene.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t change a thing about my journey. With content creation, there is plenty of negative criticism from online users, and it really used to get to me. After a while, I learned to shut it out and even use it to my advantage in some scenarios.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am known for a few things, including ranting about sports and pop culture, making pop music, polar plunging in Lake Erie and other bodies of water in the winter, dressing up as Waldo at sporting events, and making satirical videos about famous professional athletes. Currently, I am working on a couple brand deals over my social media and just recently got accepted on Cameo. What makes me proud is how invested I am in content creation: from the moment I wake up until the moment I go to bed, I am constantly working on content. My drive and work ethic definitely set me apart from other content creators.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is looking back at the end of the day and loving what you’re doing and not regretting anything you did. Money is great, but not a top indicator for success. My belief is follow your passion, and the money will follow. But my success is distinctly on if I make an impact in people’s lives and give them entertainment that they can enjoy and give themselves a distraction from daily life for a few minutes.
