Today we’d like to introduce you to John Krivec.
John, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My photography career began at the age of 18 when I was lucky enough to assist for some of the top photographers in GA. I loved learning from the best and the fast pace of working with magazines. My other passion was traveling, since those early years, I have let my love of photography take me to many amazing places in the US and around the world. I developed my skills in landscape photography, and began working more with individual clients, couples, and weddings. After many years living in different places and traveling I ended up back in GA and have continued my love of photography and grew it into a successful business.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been times that have been a struggle for sure. Learning to monetize and make a living off of my passion was the hardest part. It took me a long time to learn how to get myself and my work seen in a way that would drive new clients to me, and let me do what I love for a living. It was not always easy, but it was really worth it, and the hard times make me really appreciate the successes I have had so far.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about John Krivec Photography – what should we know?
I work with people and capturing moments in their lives. This can be a family on vacation, a proposal, portraits, and a growing number of weddings.
What I specialize in, is incorporating my style of landscape photography and combining it with portraits for a really unique and memorable photo. The best example of this is my engagement and wedding shots with the Milky Way. I have a vision for what I am able to do with a landscape and then add people and their personality into the shot. These are definitely what sets me apart. The other thing I’ll say is that I am always shooting and looking for something new. This keeps my passion alive, and then it’s easy to bring people into my passion and creates really stunning final images.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My love and passion of photography. Like I said previously, I am always shooting and trying new things. I love traveling and seeing the world through my lens. I don’t let anything get stale, I am always looking for something new, either a new style, or a new technique. The other quality that is important to me is to be humble, and easy-going. Especially on a wedding day, it’s so important to me that I am there to capture what is happening, and to really let the bride and groom’s style and personality shine through the photos. I also don’t over complicate the printing process. I prefer to leave loose time frames, and deliver all images to my clients to print or share however they choose.
