Meet Jonah Cruzz of Ordinari Music Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonah Cruzz.

Jonah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Jonah Cruzz, and I’m a hip hop artist from the southside (Clayton county to be exact). I’ve always wanted to be a rapper since I was 10. I started taking my music seriously at 16. I feel that my struggles and environment in my teenage years pushed me to take my music seriously. My family and I lived in and out of hotels in my elementary school years. At 16, we kind of just got stuck into living in hotels. It was a total of seven people bunched in a small old hotel room. My mom, dad, and me and my siblings (I’m the oldest out of five). I was already heavily involved in the streets at that point. I constantly clashed with the law and music is what helped me focus on something positive in my life.

When I graduated high school, I made a decision to really go after my dreams. At 21 years old I met my current teammates and together we created the label Ordinari Music Group, which is the label I’m also signed to. I’ve been releasing various projects since 2014. I have accumulated over 2,000,000 Spotify streams on my first project, Ordinary N***a and have been steadily growing my fanbase. Most important thing about my music is the message. I want to give my listeners the motivation and energy they need to continue striving in life while also giving them a different perspective. I have so much to say and so much work to do. I believe my music is helping people. That makes me extremely happy.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not a smooth road at all. There are ups and downs to being an entrepreneur/artist and a lot of times, we don’t show that. I’ve been taken advantage of, business deals gone wrong, hired the wrong people, and definitely made a lot of mistakes on my part. I learned from them. It made me an overall better man.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m an artist. You can definitely put me in a hip hop/soul category. What sets me apart is my style and message. I’m proud of that. When people speak on me and music, its always in an extremely positive light. My fans see me as one of the greatest. I’ve seen people pour out their souls to me after hearing my music. The love I get is priceless.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Spending time with my mom during the summertime. She always wanted to take us places downtown and experience different things and ways of life.
