Meet Jordan Mckey of Happy Moms Doula Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Mckey

Hi Jordan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been curious about birth from middle school but couldn’t see myself dealing with all the things that come with becoming an OBGYN. I heard about a doula around my high school years but didn’t grow a larger passion for it until I had my first baby. With being a military spouse, I can’t fully do what I want in the birth working field so I thought of other ways I can be an asset to others other than attending births. I’ve went to school through DONA to become a professional postpartum doula. From then, I have gotten childbirth educator, placenta specialist, lactation peer mentor, and prenatal / postnatal yoga under my belt of things to offer. My favorite part of what I do is connecting with parents, sharing my knowledge and prepping them for the before and after stages of parenthood.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has been a rough journey! The biggest struggle for me is not having a village with my kids to be a village to other families in need. The second thing I struggle with is finding clients. I believe the biggest issue can be the awareness of the profession. If people aren’t aware of the great services they can have, then business gets slow. The schooling part has been smooth since I’ve been able to do it all online and take my time, which is always amazing.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As a dedicated doula, childbirth educator, placenta specialist, breastfeeding peer mentor, and prenatal/postnatal yoga instructor, I am passionate about supporting families through every stage of their journey. I offer a range of services, including in-person and soon-to-be online workshops, as well as support groups for parents who may not be able to afford full doula care or who simply want to enhance their ability to support a loved one during childbirth.

What sets me apart is my commitment to affordability. This work is more than just a profession for me—it’s a passion. I understand the financial barriers that often prevent families from accessing necessary birth support services, and I strive to make these services accessible to all, regardless of their budget. My ultimate goal is to empower families, whether through encapsulating placenta pills, offering guidance on how to approach childbirth with confidence, or simply being a supportive presence.

I take pride in being a valuable resource for families, providing both in-person and virtual services, and I’m always open to working within a family’s financial means. For me, the greatest reward is knowing that I’ve played a role in helping a family during one of the most significant times in their lives.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I like the population but dislike the lack of awareness about birth workers.
