Meet Jordan Woods of Jordan Simone Branding & Production

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Woods.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jordan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
This all happened by chance. It started in a high school photography course. I went to a performing arts high school and just knew I would go on to be a dancer. To keep us well-rounded they required us to take an elective in another art form. Once I stepped into that photography class, I was hooked. The combination of the artistic expression and the science behind how the camera catches & refracts light to give images was fascinating to me – I had to know more. I established my business in college, taking graduation and family photos, but along the way I was introduced to design. I should have my PhD from YouTube University because I watched as many videos as I could to learn about the design programs, color theory, typography and more. I was determined to build my photography businesses visual brand from scratch. That’s when I fell in love with the entire creative process of shaping a brand. What was I providing? Who was I providing it for? How did I want my clients to feel about my business? The list goes on and on, but that was the moment it clicked. I didn’t want to just be on the backend – I wanted to have my hand in every part of the process. Through many years of working full-time and contracting at other companies, I realized there were major pieces of the process being skipped to provide a pretty product. The visual was only a part of it – the intention behind it, the why or strategy, needed to be at the forefront of the process. In comes, Jordan Simone Branding + Production. I afforded the opportunity to help brands through the journey from development to maintenance, campaigning and more.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Is any road smooth? I would say my road to the point hasn’t been smooth at all. From the artist perspective of internal doubt and perfectionism to being a Black woman in an ever-growing industry, it has been a challenge to help my business stand out and continue to grow.

Please tell us about Jordan Simone Branding & Production.
We aim to help product businesses define their brand and create content that turns followers into customers. What does that mean? At any stage of your business, you can view myself as your creative director. I work with all my clients to figure out what’s the best way to speak to their clients – whether that’s through design, photography, video or any combination of the three. My aim is to help those retail brands convert their audience into sales. The differentiator for me is that because I have experience with all mediums, there isn’t the issue of messages being lost in transition. I act as the Creative Director bringing all the moving pieces together cohesively.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If had to start over, I don’t think I would’ve done anything differently. Every part of my journey has brought me to where I am today. If I had skipped any of those phases, I wouldn’t have the diverse experience and perspective that informs my expertise and how I work with clients. Those valuable lessons learned wouldn’t be as valuable if I missed those experiences.
