Meet Joseph LeGras

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph LeGras.

Joseph B. LeGras Jr, known professionally as J.LeGras, is an American singer-songwriter, record producer and I.T. Engineer Consultant. Born and raised in a small town of Alexandria, Louisiana, but moved to Warner Robins, GA after Hurricane Katrina. LeGras began making and performing music at a very young age and performed in various musical venues in his hometown and also traveled with various national choirs out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He participated in state competitions all through high school in singing and theater. He graduated from high school at 17 and enlisted into the United States Army, so they could pay for school, while also trying to do music. While in the army, he served six years and received the rank of Sergeant while all going to school and earning his associate’s degree and bachelor’s degrees in Information Technology. In August 2016, he decided not to re-enlist so he can get started on building his I.T Consulting Business in hopes of one day it funds his dream of doing music full-time.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not at all. I was obligated to work for the Georgia National Guard, Go to school full-time, Work, and deal with mental health issues on top all of it. I have had anxiety and ADHD all my life. I was diagnosed as a small child. Sometimes I use to not take my meds because my body would adjust to them and I would have mood swings and react differently on different meds.

So in my adulthood, I have learned how to manage without the use of multiple pharmaceuticals. I started to get conscious on how it was affecting my physical and mental state. It was vital that I found something because I was told I was depressed and they wanted me to start taking more meds. That’s when I started looking at alternative ways to help me manage it. That’s when I found ways like holistic, CBD, exercises, natural vitamins, oils and plants. I have been dealing with this all my life and for the first time in my life, I can honestly say I have a handle on it.

But here I am standing now as Army Vet, Singer-Songwriter, College Educated and successful BLACK businessman.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with J.LeGras – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
For my IT consulting business, what sets me apart is my ability to articulate my technical skills and traits to the Average Joe. In the tech space that is a rare commodity because a lot of tech folks are not “people persons” meaning they don’t like talking with many people and explaining their selves. They like to stay in a bubble. I am the complete opposite. I love to talk and the more we talk the more I can figure out a way to help your business through my services.

For my songwriting career. I would say it’s close to the same. I love getting to know the persons I get to write for. I want to get inside your head and figure out what exactly you want us to illustrate to the world. What picture are you trying to paint?

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans are simple. Build enough business for my consulting business so it can become self-efficient and I hand off day to day operations so I can focus deeper on music. I can say I am closer than I thought I would be. More than ever.
