Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Rowland.
Hi Josh, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well Hi everyone, my name is Joshua Rowland and I’m a photographer. I started photography during the year of covid by just taking pictures off a iPhone 15 and fell in love with taking photos since. Overtime i managed to buy my first digital camera and i was happy about it, because it meant my photos would be better and just the fact i have a camera now. Fast forward to now, I look back at my photos and all I can just say “I came far”. From shooting sports photography in high school and college to focusing on branding myself as an event photographer, product photographer, and business headshot photographer all the age oh 19. As i continue my passion in the field of photography i just thank God for every opportunity that comes my way.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’m going to be honest no. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs when it came to my journey as a photographer. Some of the struggles were my mental health, my mom being hospitalized with stage 4 breast cancer, and just doubting myself. When it came to balancing my mental health and photography, it was a hard fight but as of now i’m on the winning side of things. My mom is doing way better than she was when she was diagnosed, and when it comes to the feeling of doubt, I don’t have that feeling anymore.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
when it comes to my work, I like to say i specialize in event photography. when it comes to all the things I have took photos of or people I’ve taken photos with the one most I’m proud of is when I did my first club gig for New Year’s, and it was very successful. I did have a lot of doubts going into it because I was like this is my first time ever doing this but looking back at it now it is definitely one of the things I’m most proud of. when it comes to what makes me different from others I’m a very quiet person, but once I get comfortable i’m more outgoing and easy to talk to and relate to. another thing that sets me aside from others is when it comes to turnaround times of editing and sending out photos. I want to say I do have a quick turnaround time with these things
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I wouldn’t say luck has played a role in anything personally, because everything I’ve done, I prayed for and even though it’s taking longer than I’ve expected to. I continue to trust in God and I’ve kept that trust in him as I continue to pursue my goal.
