Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Jarmin.
Joshua, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was a school teacher for a year before joining the United States Marine Corps (reserve) as an infantryman. I continued teaching until I was deployed. When I came home I began my career in fitness as a personal trainer (I had done a little on the side before I was deployed). Fitness became my passion and I studied everything from biomechanics to the endocrinology system in order to enhance my knowledge on how to help those I trained. I became a sponge for everything fitness related and my clients reaped the benefits 🙂
After working for a few facilities over the years I decided it was time to create my own brand. My brothers became my investors so I was very fortunate with not going to a bank for a loan. Things didn’t look so good a year into the opening so my younger brother dropped everything and came onboard to help make the facility profitable. 2 years later we rebranded with a new name (Blueprint Fitness) and a new program (small group personal training). We have continued to grow ever since and I love seeing what this program can do for anyone who puts forth the effort.
You could say I’m still a “teacher” and love seeing the transformations clients see over time. In the end, I’ve learned that being healthy and fit is very simple, but it’s our minds/personality that get in the way. Change your mindset first, followed by your habits, then your body.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Learning to market and retain clients. With the ever changing landscape of internet advertising, you have to stay ahead of the curve and adapt in order to grow. Creating a fun workout program isn’t that hard. Creating EFFECTIVE programming that will get results is harder and the only thing harder than that is marketing.
Please tell us about Blueprint Fitness.
We’re a Small Group training facility. That means each trainer has no more than 4 clients at a time. Our clients are given “blueprints” which allow the trainer to create each client’s individualized workout and track their progress. This ensures that our clients stay on track no matter who their trainer is during their workout.
We have an affinity for kettlebells so we include those in our training program daily. Used correctly, kettlebells can be used as a physical therapy tool, fat burner, and muscle builder.
One of the features of our program is its adaptability. Trainers are well versed in biomechanics and have years of experience. If something’s not working, they’ll use the next best thing to help you through the workout and advise you on what you should do at home to continue seeing results and reduce the chance of injury.
