Meet Joshua Wade

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Wade.

Joshua, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m originally from Pasadena, California. In 2010 I received my Bachelor in Arts & Music from an HBCU, Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens, FL. I began acting in 2012 and when my finances didn’t align with my dream, I decided to step into the corporate world working for Carnival Cruise Line. While working in corporate American, I kept my passion for the arts alive by pursuing acting and writing short films. At the top of 2017, I understood that being in a cubicle for nearly 13 hours a day was not the path God had for me. I walked away from corporate American and decided to pursue entertainment full time.

Starting my entrepreneurial journey, I realized I would need to utilize all of my talents to sustain myself financially. One month after walking off my job in June of 2017, I landed my first principal role in a Burger King commercial which paid me almost the exact salary I was making at Carnival Cruise Line, talk about faith. Within a two year span, I continued to work and maxed out my ability to give to the South Florida market. I have since relocated from Miami, FL to Atlanta, GA.

In 2018 I released my book “Top 20 Vocabulary Words & Tips Every Actor Should Know,” currently featured on my website TheJoshuaWade.com and at “Buckhead Books” inside of the Hartsfield – Jackson International Airport. I host monthly screenwriting workshop on how to write short films using industry style formatting and unique storytelling methods. Now an Actor, Stunt Performer, Writer, and Owner of ExecuteGear.com, I am now living in my divine purpose and inspiring others to do the same.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road by any means, perseverance and faith are key. The struggle that constantly arises is finding out ways to package my talents, which is how I became so efficient in creating courses and workshops. Three of the most valuable lessons I have learned while pursuing a career in the entertainment industry & entrepreneurship are managing your expectations, understanding there is no direct path to success and exercising patients.

The advice I would give a young man pursuing a career in acting or entrepreneurship would be to stay positive, be honest with yourself and be creative.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am an Actor, Stunt Performer, Writer, and own an eCommerce online clothing store entitled ExecuteGear.com.

I am best known for acting. In my career, I have worked on various commercials, television shows, and as a print model. I have been fortunate enough to work with major brands such as KFC, Burger King, Walmart, Disney, Unilever, American Soul, Fatal Attraction and The Underground Railroad to name a few.

I thoroughly enjoy creating scripts, storytelling and specialize in screenwriting. In 2018, out of 35 entries, I won a Screenwriting Competition in Miami, FL. In addition, I was the only filmmaker selected, out of 800 entries, to have three short films featured in the Black Hollywood Film Festival (LA). In 2019 I began hosting monthly screenwriting workshops teaching aspiring screenwriters standard industry formatting and unique storytelling methods.

I identify myself as someone that executes; because of that, I created the brand Execute Gear. My brand is for all that get things done. “I Execute Everyday” and “Let Me Execute” are examples of quotes that I feature on my merchandise such as hats, shoes, t-shirts, etc.

What I am most proud of is that everything that I am pursuing is apart of the arts and entertainment industry.

I believe what sets me apart from others is that there is only one Joshua Wade and I am confident moving at my own pace.

What advice would you give a young man that is interested in pursuing a career in your field?
The most important piece of advice I would give a young man just starting their career as an actor or entrepreneur would be, find multiple mentors. One for Business, one for Finance, and One for Relationships.
