Today we’d like to introduce you to Joy Mitchell.
Joy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As founding principal of Office Creations, I bring over 15 years of contract furniture experience in a variety of vertical markets. I am highly accessible to all of our clients and I have a personal commitment to customer service. I truly believe this has successfully contributed to the completion of numerous local and national projects. I have been repeatedly recognized for my ‘whatever it takes’ attitude, as well as my passion for developing the industry’s next generation of leaders. Under my direction, Office Creations has steadily climbed to become one of Atlanta’s top 10 premier furniture dealerships.
We recently acquired Ivan Allen a huge name in the Atlanta area. This acquisition allowed to align with Allsteel and this has put in another bracket and market all together! I am so humbled and will be forever grateful for being aligned with such a premiere name not only in Atlanta but nationwide!!!
We now have a showroom in the Jacksonville area as well as in Midtown Atlanta! We are growing like a wild fire!!!
I am madly in love with my family, active in my community, and deeply committed to my faith in Jesus Christ. It is because of him that I have made this far and I really believe the best is yet to come!!!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No it has not been a smooth road at all! But one thing I have learned in all of this is that it is in the tough seasons that I have learned my most valuable life and leadership lessons. I have developed a lot of grit and tenacity over the years and I owe it all to my heavenly father and the tribe of great leaders the God has placed in my life to coach, teach and mentor me along the way. My husband has supported me tremendously and has been my sounding board for new and innovatives at work and in the community.
One of my fondest memories on this journey happened years ago. My wonderful husband and I were sitting in Golden Corral discussing the business and making plans for next steps for us as a couple, family and business in the Metro Atlanta area. Together we wrote our vision on a paper napkin and we vowed to stick together through the thick and the thin! We left that day with nothing but our faith in God, faith in our love for each other and a paper napkin with words on it. Fast forward to today and I can say that God has been faithful and he has blessed our family and Office Creations tremendously!!!
God is able and one thing I have learned is that where God GUIDES you…HE will PROVIDE!!!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Office Creations, Inc. – what should we know?
Established in 2001, Office Creations began with the vision of creating office environments with an innovative approach. Today, Office Creations focuses on providing clients with innovative workplaces, strategic design, and creative collaboration. Office Creations, Inc. is a certified woman-owned business and has been awarded the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “Top 20 Dealer Award” on multiple times.
What sets Office Creations apart from the rest of competition is our ability to listen to our clients need and tailor an experience that will meet their needs. We don’t give our clients boxed answers or solutions we make specific to their needs and the culture within their place of business. We believe in doing what is RIGHT always…right for others and for ourselves.
Office Creations is affectionately known for our high level of customer service to all of our clients! If you are buying one chair or enough furniture to fill an entire building our level of service will be the same across the board! All of our clients matter and we believe our Attitude is what makes the difference and sets us apart as well. We will make it happen and any client that has interacted with the OC Team can attest to this!
What makes us the most proud is the dynamic team of professionals that God has blessed us to have on our team as well as all of the dynamic clients that we have been blessed to serve! It is so much more than furniture it is really a form of ministry for us. Each person we have the pleasure of interacting with becomes part of our family and it is our prayer that their lives are forever changed because of our team!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
God is the reason why Office Creations is still thriving to this day. He has allowed relationships to be forged that has pushed us to the next level for sure!
My entire family has believed in the vision of Office Creations and it is because of this we are where we are today!!!
My husband Brett has been by my side and has been my shoulder to cry on and the voice of wisdom when I am at pivotal moments in my live. My mother Andrea Moore played a key role in helping me develop into the woman I am today! She is the reason why I have an Entrepreneurs spirit.
When you have a moment to reflect back on your career there is a very pivotal moment that happened for me 8 years ago. I met Tony Nelson and Eric Kreutziger some of competitors. They believed in Brett and decided to befriend us with the intention of pouring into us through coaching and mentoring. They taught us so much about the industry we are in and served as a guide along the way!!!
Now we get to work together on various projects and he still mentors and coaches us to this day… as a competitor!!! You forever remember who helped you get to where you are today! I will forever thank them both for believing in this CraZy ADHD girl who never stopped talking about how to WIN in Atlanta!!
