Today we’d like to introduce you to Joyce Crocker.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was working as a massage therapist and a Reiki practitioner in Beverly Hills, CA and started carrying around crystals in my pocket to help with negative energy protection as I was taking in a lot of clients’ energies.
Co-workers started coming to me asking for crystal recommendations, and at that point, I realized not everyone wanted to carry rocks in their pockets, so I decided to make jewelry with intention and started a shop on Etsy in mid-2013. In 2014, right before I moved back to Georgia, I took a course and became a Certified Crystal Healer.
After I moved back, I kept working on my shop and coming up with combinations to help with stress and anxiety relief, negative energy protection, etc. while working a day job. Two months ago, I was able to quit my job.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a relatively smooth road but with a lot of late nights working on the shop and filling orders. I had a little bit of a hard time trying to get into events to set up a booth as jewelry itself is a very saturated market. But my friend Renee from Sakura Moments gave me some tips on which events to sign up for, and I now do at least two events every month.
One of the things I was worried about when I was getting ready to move back to Georgia was not knowing how open Georgians would be to what I do since Georgia wasn’t quite as holistic as California is (or so I thought). I was wrong. I have met so many wonderful people here that are open, curious or was already familiar with Reiki and crystal healing.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Rock My Zen – what should we know?
I am a Reiki practitioner and certified crystal healer, and I make jewelry with intention. I started Rock My Zen (Healing Garden Shop on Etsy) as a way to help people as I decided to retire from massage upon moving back to Georgia. I create crystal combinations to help with stress and anxiety relief, negative energy protection, attracting money and love, etc.
I think what sets me apart from other jewelry makers is my intention to help with each piece. What I am most proud of is hearing back from clients on how a specific piece of jewelry has helped that person. When I get messages like that, it reinforces that I am on the right path in this lifetime. I love what I do and am absolutely blessed to be able to do it.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Being kind and willing to help to the best of my ability. I know not everyone believes in what I do, but I never try to push or convince anyone to believe. To those who are open to crystal healing, I give them my all.
