Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Allison.
Julia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Four years ago, I was a senior in college. After five major changes, I still had no clue where I wanted to go with my life. I had three jobs and my university hours were full time. I had always enjoyed social media and had a love for sharing parts of my life to reach others who would find me relatable. I had a friend that started a brand partnership with a health and wellness company. I saw a drastic change in her life and passion that I desired. She offered the opportunity to me, and I hesitantly accepted. Once the decision was made, I was ignorance on fire. Over the last four years, that partnership has allowed me to create a dream brand for myself while working full time on social media. After graduating from college, I found myself spending the majority of my time working from home in PJ’s. Thus, The Lazy Hustler was born. Not to be confused with a lazy work ethic– lazy in the brand name represents comfort and freedom. I offer a variety of merchandise that aligns with that vision. I am a hustler that enjoys the freedom of creating my schedule even if that means twice the work. My dream was felt by thousands who hustle in the same way I do. My goal is that by sharing my desire to work hard, dream bigger, and be vulnerable, that I would be able to make one person’s life a little easier.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not. Over the four years, I have had to move over five times. I have been both married and divorced. I have lost close friends. I have been humiliated and fallen short. I have made mistakes that everyone got to see. I have experienced heartbreak in my personal life, spiritual life, and business life. I have built it up to watch it fall more than once. BUT– I am aggressively patient and obnoxiously persistent. Each obstacle has eventually propelled me forward. Every mistake has been a lesson learned. Each heartbreak has allowed me to be more empathetic and vulnerable to people who need that connection.
Please tell us about your business.
The Lazy Hustler is a more than an apparel line or a blog. It is a lifestyle that I have branded to find other likeminded hustlers like myself. I specialize in fitness, travel, and words. My motto became a success in the mess. The idea is to not only remind people that you don’t have to show up in business attire to rock an industry. Even deeper, it is a reminder that even if you feel your life is a mess that you can inevitably still create a successful brand and lifestyle. The thing that sets me apart is that I always show up. I show up messy, tired, well put together, at the lows, at the highs, and everywhere in between. I just show up!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are currently undergoing a rebranding. We are getting a new logo and web design which will be the beginning of what’s to come for 2020. My vision is to expand not only in the merchandise offered, but I want to also provide more materials that can help other people begin to bring their visions to life.
